Have you got what it takes to become part of the Pocket GPS Team ?

We're looking for bright, enthusiastic GPS users in North America, Canada and Australia to join the Pocket GPS Team to test and review GPS Hardware, Software, and Mapping products for these specific countries. Now before any of you go off applying, please read on...

You may think that all of the Pocket GPS Team, including myself run Pocket GPS as our main job, and earn heaps of money from it. We wish we did! The fact is we don't! We all have full time jobs, but equally we work, play and sleep Pocket GPS to bring you all the news and reviews! We don't receive any money for the work we do, nor any holidays. What we do, we do for you! Most of the time, we don't even get to keep the products we review, a high percentage of these do have to be returned if the product has just entered the market due to availability problems. We receive joy out of reviewing these products and not only having the unique chance to borrow/test/review products that only someone with a bottomless bank account would be able to achieve, but we also receive the satisfaction that we're bringing a change to the industry and helping other users.

With that in mind we're looking for people to fit the following profile:-

Live in North America, Canada and Australia
You must not work for or be associated with any GPS company or any company that supplies accessories to GPS Users, this includes retail outlets, and believe me, you will stick out like a sore thumb, we can tell!
You need to be interested in either Street Routing products, and also Topographical products like Memory-Map, Fugawi, OziExplorer or both topics
You need to be interested equally in testing and reviewing hardware, software and accessories
Some products have to be returned after review, and have to be sent back insured, most of the time return courier costs are paid for, but if they aren't, you have to be willing to shell out a few bucks to send a product back, it's a small price to pay for having a month to test a product!
You have to be able to commit time in the evenings and at weekends to Pocket GPS, the team sometimes exchange 20-30 emails a day, so you not only have to be able to cope with this, but also be able to write reviews and take part in answering questions in the forums, and once you have a few reviews under your belt, expect to start receiving emails from people asking about your reviews.
Although Pocket GPS has a good name and good contacts with many GPS and Pocket PC companies, you will have to be prepared to contact new companies, talk to them, request product review kits, build a relationship with them, and take ownership for any damages when in your care.
You do not need to be a GPS guru, or GPS god. You will pick up an extensive knowledge from other team members over time
You don't need to be an English professor, but you do need to be able to speak fluent English and to be able to use a spell checker
If you have any web design skills using packages like FrontPage or Dreamweaver, these will be a bonus, but most reviews can be written in a word processor.
Primarily you will need a Pocket PC running Pocket PC 2002, but Palm's would also be advantageous.

All of the above might sound like it's a hard job, and believe us, it really is!

So with that in mind, we're going to make you work for this! We will ask you in reply to write a review, depending on the equipment you have, and the review you write, all of these will be brought together and the best person(s) the Pocket GPS Team feel fit the profile will join the team.
