Speeding up address search

One tip that I saw somewhere on the TT site was to install a 16Mb map of the local area, as well as a larger map such as complete UK.



Most of us make most trips in the local area, and address search will be a bit faster and easier because there are fewer choices.



It means switching maps if you want to make a x-country trip, and local favourites will not be accessible from the large map.



There might be room to store the 16Mb map in main memory.

You could create a POI and save your favourites in there, that way you are not limited to 20 items and can copy the POI to any maps you wish it to appear in? I use custom POI's for clients, family and other locations I wish to keep and this way I have an .ov2 file I can save out.

Is there any general information on the site about creating and using POI's in the manner which you describe.



This sounds of interest to me for using the sytem on holiday in France, Switzerland and Italy, where I suppose, (unless Maps of Europe changes TT's approach) I shall have to switch maps between countries.
