It was stated in this release that MRE is going to be available. Is it? Or have they changed their minds?

Hi jayd,

I noticed you have the Globalsat BT-338 bluetooth gps receiver with your 6630. Just wondering if you have considered any other ones before getting the 338? Could you please comment on its performance against the other receivers? I am using the old TTM receiver and it takes far too long to fix so am looking for alternatives. Some said the Fortuna Slim and others suggested the new TTM receiver, what would you and others on this forum recommend?

Thanks!!!

I would personally recommend the BT-77 with Nemerix chipset. I bought mine from a superb eBay seller called inter-activeinformation.

Great service and price and works with TTM5 straight out of the box. I have tested this on my 6600 & 6680 with no issues.

Roberto,
How quickly does the GPS received you mentioned pick up a signal when started from cold?
10-30 sec or more like 1 min (which is at least how long the old tomtom bluetooth gps reciever takes - it probably takes more like 2-3mins).
thanks,
rob

It's really quick. I just turned it on for the first time today (been vegging out at home all day ! Laughing Out Loud) and it acquired a signal within 20 seconds. It all depends on where you are, but this is a damned quick unit and works well in places like heavy foliage cover or urban jungle.

A very good device Smile

thanks for quick reply roberto,
does it come with anything to fix it to dashboard? magnet or anything?
i suppose you can just buy some magnetic adhesive stuff.
do you recon it's sensitive enough to work in glove box, or have you not road tested it enough?

No, it doesn't come with a mount but does have a non slip rubber base that works really well. I plonk mine in the middle of the dash of my Mondeo and it stays put just fine.

It does work in the glovebox, but drops out more often than I'd like. I tried it in my sunglasses storage compartment in the ceiling and it worked surprisingly well Smile It even works in the door bin ! Smile

Trust me, I haven't heard a bad word said about it and I know a fair few people who use it. My experience of it has been nothing short of complete satisfaction.

You can't at the moment as TomTom have not produced maps for this area.

Is TomTom Navigator 5 identical to TomTom 510? I tried TomTom 510, loved it, but want to the same functionality on my HTC Wizard/Cingular 8125 Window Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC.

If there are differences, what are they?

(Also, is TomTomNavigator 5 different from the Mobile 5 reviewed here. Sorry for such a dumb question, but this review is over a year old).

Thanks.

Yes you can have 2 bluetooth devices, but to be honest, it's a load'a crap.

Just stick to the 1 bluetooth as a time.
