You can always create your own VIF file.

1. Create a file with the same name, just use the extention ".vif"
2. Open your VIF file with notepad.
3. On the first line enter information about the file. i.e. "bob on acid" (no quotes).
4. On the second line enter the name of the corresponding CHK file. i.e. if you have "data66.chk" then this should read :"data66.chk" (no quotes).

It's as simple as that. If you also want an image, name the image the same as the CHK file, only it needs to be a BMP extension (spec = 160 x 160, 8Bit).

http://www.vorbis.com/download_win_1.0.1.psp

(You want the Encoders - Vorbis Tools)

To convert them from OGG into WAV files:
you need to use the OGGDEC.EXE which is one of the files you downloaded from Vorbis.
Copy this file into the folder with all the OGG files in it.
Then highlight 30 of the OGG files (at a time), and drag them onto the OGGDEC.EXE file (you can do this one at a time if you find it easier).

You'll find a black box popping up for a second, then disappearing, and then your folder will also contain the respective files in WAV format.

Thanks ... I had no joy though, I firstly tried dragging the OGG files onto a file I downloaded called oggenc.exe the command window flashes up for a split second but get no wave files appear in the folder.

I also tried dragging an few OGG files to a tool called oggdropXPd.exe it returns an error 'Input does not appear to be an OGG bitstream

??????????????..............

Are you using Vif Tools to extract the ogg files from the dataxx.chk file?
If so thats your problem.

Use poi patcher

Just a quick update, I used the program to extract some voice files ( I know it was intended for POI sounds) .. anyway it seemed to work fine with third party voices and I was able to convert all the resulting OGG files WAV files no problem ... however the native TomTom voice files seemed to have a problem with just a few OGG files that I was unable to convert to WAV, I tersted both UK voices Tim and Jane. With the Jane OGG files for example, I could not convert the resulting Ogg files; 80, AFTER, THEN and YARDS to WAV filesw !! .. strange I thought ????

I tried Tim ("data04"): 100%, all 59 files OGG files converted into audiable WAV files.

But Jane ("data05"): 58 files OGG files converted into audiable WAV files.
The problem file is "Then.ogg", whcih (after decompression to OGG) is a faulty OGG format file, thus it cannot be converted!
-I used 'poi-soundpatch-0.3.12.exe' to decompress the CHK file.
-I also tried 'viftool' to decompress the CHK file and that also cound do all files except 'Then.ogg'.

Anyone have any ideas?

That's weird as I got 4 bad OGG files for Jane that couldn't be converted and 2 for Tim, specificallY

For Tim:

80.ogg
Then.ogg

For Jane:

80.ogg
After.ogg
Then.ogg
Yards.ogg

I repeated the process a few times to see it it was random but I got the same ogg files each time that I was inable to convert to WAV..

Split the CHK file using 'POI Patcher',as VIFTOOL splits file in SET legths; whereas 'POI Patcher' actually splits according to the voice file lengths.

If you're a Windows user: Go to: http://www.xiph.org/downloads/
and download 'oggdropXPd', very simple but versatile coversion from OGG to WAV and back again.
--I cannot DL the app from the site at the moment, PM me your email and I can email the app 2 you in the meantime.
