Hi, I have a 510, and have updated to latest version, my problem is when I put in a post code for Leeds where I live it says no matching post codes, yet it has Birmingham codes?
How do I get more post codes and how do I download them, I have activesync working ok.
Thanks Brian

Some of the postcodes appear to be wrong. If you find your street by scrolling the map, then tap and hold the screen, does your roadname appear at the top of a popup menu? If so, tap the name of your road and see what postcode it thinks it's in.

Hi again, I have read the Navman booklet that came with the iCN 510,
I have looked on the disc but can find no mention of post codes, does anyone using a 510 know if they should be on the disc, or do i have to download them from somewhere.
Thanks

The postcode doesn't appear when you tap and hold, then choose 'show details'. You have to enter it from the keyboard. Not much use if the postcode is wrong. But the postcodes will have already been loaded along with the other map info when you bought it.

How many characters are you trying to enter? You can only put in the first part, then the first number of the second part eg: NW2 6 - the remaining two letters can't be entered.

Thanks Simon, that was it I was putting the full post code in, putting just the first 5 digets and allowing the hour glass top left corner to run brought it up correctly.
Thanks to All.

seems strange that the navman doesn't even acknowledge some post codes / locations exist - yet when you input something you know is close, you can then see the road on the map that it doesn't acknowledge. Not much use if you are trying to get to somewhere you've never been to before and haven't got 'something close by' you can input

I had the same trouble with post codes, it seems that the post office will not allow the full post code to be used, it is apparantly copyright

Didn't I read somewhere (here maybe) that TomTom are going to have FULL postcode on their next software release, including the Go? Does that mean Navman will rise to the challenge????

I live in peterlee county durham - can anyone find my street or postal code because i cant....

65 thorntree gill
sr8 4sr
thorntree gill is one of the oldest streets in peterlee and quite big too - it does pick up eastfield which is next door? but i can only get sr8 4 on the post code which covers a broad area.

can anyone advise as to when version 4 software will be out for the nav 510 and what improvements it will have - post codes??

AutoRoute shows SR8 4SR as being Eastfield.
I cannot find Thorntree Gill on there either.

Hi there

I've just looked at the Royal Mail 'Post Code Finder' for your postcode and house number, it does quote your correct address as you say.

65 Thorntree Gill
Peterlee
SR8 4SR

however when you view the map the only name for the road shown says Eastfield.

No prizes for guessing who provides their data Laughing 'TeleAtlas' Exclamation .

You can't win can you Question

Regards

What I would like to know is what Tele Atlas are actually doing about it!

They must have had dozens of support form submissions about the incorrect road names. More than enough for them to take the errors seriously.

That road is also incorrectly named in Autoroute 2005, which uses NAVTEQ data.
