Is any info available for factory fitted SatNav systems on new motors. Do all motor manufacturers fit an industry standard or are they all different. Is it better to not have the Sat/Nav fitted as an option (expensive) and buy a standalone system. I suppose I am asking if the prices charged by the car manufacturers is value for money. Any thoughts?

They are all different, and you cannot exchange map data between them

They are up to 10 times more expensive than a Pocket PC based solution, but they also come with complete coverage of Europe (not cut down into individual maps) and always allow cross border routing (something the small systems are weak about)

It's some more value for a lot more money. And a lot less choice.
