Hello Group,
I am considering buying the Fortuna 'clip on' BT gps as its a great sounding gps, which i hope to use with my rx3715 ipaq running tom tom 3.
The deciding factor for me will be whether or not the supplied 12v car charger will also power and charge my ipaq? Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance,

Markm

The supplied car charger won't necessarily power your iPAQ. Though the USB cable in the box has the right connector (and two of them - one for the GPS and one for another device) to connect to the little 'adapter' that would have been supplied with your iPAQ, the charger doesn't supply that much current.

I can't remember what the output of the car charger is, but it's certainly less than 1A. The HP supplied mains chargers are rated at 2A; though I don't have any current draw figures for modern iPAQs, I'd have thought the combined load of the GPS, as well as the iPAQ on high backlight level with the Bluetooth radio on and potentially charging the battery as well would exceed the output capacity of the charger.

I'm not aware of any 'high output' USB car chargers.

I have succesfully used the Fortuna supplied USB cable with the car USB adaptor to power my Axim X30 in the car.
