Guys, I was looking at the NavMan icn 510 and the display and clarity for the most cr%p navigator in the world looks ideal and exactly what I need.

Quest owners out there, can you please give me your thoughts on how this compares with the likes of the 3D maps on the iCN 510 http://www.navman.com/land/products/icn510/index.html i.e. do you find the Quest map good enough and clear enough for use on London A roads?

Thanks in advance

Mike

MotorbikeMike,

I have no experience of the Navman unit, but I have found the Quest an excellent tool. The screen is very clear and although small, it is easy to read. I have used it extensively both in high-rise inner cities and the countryside and have only lost lock once.
Personally, I am happy with the 2D maps.
I understand the motorcyle mount is due out soon and that the latest Quest software update includes volume control when used with the motorcycle mount and earpiece.

Hope this helps! Smile

Mike, the quest basically uses very similar maps and interface to the Street Pilots. So the maps are yellow, no 3D view but they do the job in getting you from A to B but without all those bells and whistles that you're starting to see on a lot of the PDA style versions.

The Quest is also very small. The screen is about the same size as a mobile phone screen (atleast very similar size to the C500) so it's very small when compared to the Navman iCN 510 screen. Both are truly portable and can be put in your shirt pocket but the iCN 510 will represent more of a buldge.

Personally after using both I would prefer the iCN 510, but a lot of bikers perfer the Quest for a number of reasons:-

1) It's waterproof (iCN 510 isn't)
2) Add a RAM Mount cradle and arm/ball and it's easy to mount to all motorbikes.

For RAM Mounts check out http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-hol-ga15.htm and also chec out http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/bike-mount16.htm and http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/bike-mount18.htm
