Has anyone made a copy of a brand new TTM MMC card, before adding any POIs (either via the TTM software or copying to the card itself), and before they tested their new toy?

I am after a copy of complete virgin files that are on the MMC just in case, you never know. I have a copy of the files on my PC but they have been made after I played with the TTM and added a few extras.

Cheers,

Jamie

The easiest way around this is to create another copy of your backup and just remove *.ov2 and *.bmp and that will be your correct virgin copy. No changes get made to any of the TomTom files when you add POI's.

Are you using a Card Reader to do this or the Nokia PC Suite Software?

Nokia's software is notoriously poor for file copy such as this, get a card reader that willa ccept SD/MMC cards or find a mate who has one and you will be fine Smile

OK, assuming you use Windows XP, insert card and open Explorer (My Computer).

Select Tools | Options from the menu at the top

Select the 'View' Tab

Enable "Show Hidden Files and folders" and select OK

Now you should be able to browse to the MMC Card Drive, do a Ctrl +A to select all files on the card and a Ctrl+C to copy all these files to the clipboard.

Then insert the new card, browse to it and right click and select 'Paste' to copy the files and folders to the new card.

ERROR COPYING FILE OR FOLDER
CANNOT COPY FILE: CANNOT READ FROM THE SOURCE FILE OR DISK.

Is the original MMC Card still functioning OK?

Try the copy from the original card and then paste into a temporary folder on the PC and see if the error is the same.

oh yes the original card is fine I put it in and its smooth as anything, I have done that ,I put original card in copy everything into a folder, then I paste it into the new card, then I check that everything is there which it is, then I put it into my nokia 6600 and its not even there? this is what I find really strange, I also have route 66 mobile and when I do the same thing as above its fine ,everything has gone to the new card, I put it into phone and everything works smoothley, its just the tom tom mobile which is making me pull my hair out.

You are using an MMC Card and not an SD Card? What size is it? Sounds more like a compatability issue with the Nokia and your new card to me.

Hi D, I have manage to sort out the problem, I formatted the card and it worked straight away, the only other problem I have is I am trying to put tom tom mobile and route 66 mobile on the same card (512mb mmc)

I first put tom tom on then after I put route 66 on , when this second software is going on , half way through the process it say something like a folder called SYSTEMS is on both these software do you want to overwrite or not, so i say overwrite, so the card when put into my phone goes mad and dislplays error, so I try again, this time I say not to overwrite, still it goes mad and displays error,

so basically both tom tom and route 66 have a folder called : SYSTEMS
and when put onto one card (512mb) it crashes and causes problems, whats the best way around this?

many regards

Hi D, if i renamed one of the system folders to sytem1 and left the other one alone , do you think the program will know which sytem to go to ???

Is there any way you can partition a mmc card so two programs do not conflict? this would be the ideal solution.??
