Bear with me on this Rolling Eyes

I have Navigator 3 on an iPaq 2210, a 510mb card with UK , France ,POI Warner, postcode search and Sprite backsups. I am running XP. My PC HD became corrupted and unrepairable. I added a second HD and made that the new C drive. The old one became a secondary drive which thankfully had most files intact but all programmes lost.

I reinstalled active sync and hoped against hope that TTN would somehow magically restore from the 2210. I did however have a working iPaq and navigation system.

I reinstalled TTN from the disc and overote the files to the iPaq. Whilst the contents of the SD card are intelligible, all other files relating to TomTom when displayed on the PC when docked are I would guess peculiar to Pocket PC rather than PC....CFG .AXS .CLR .ASC .TMT .AXS files etc are not being recognised in the same way by Windows as I am sure they were before the problem occured.

Clearly this is not affecting the sync or the flow of information, but I would be interested if anyone has a simple solution to TomTom file conversion..Thanks.

What do you expect Windows to do with these files? You can't usefully do anything with the map files on your PC - they're in a proprietary format. One or two of the files, such as the .mid, are actually in plain text.

The only reason I know to look at the map files is to look at the .mid file to find the toolchain reference (version) of the map.

To manipulate and edit POI files on the PC, you need POIEdit.

Thanks for the reply...In truth I have no plans to alter any of the files, I thought I recalled that the files were readable by windows before the corruption. I really only want to ensure that all is as it ought to be....I think you have put my mind to rest!
