Hi, I have just bought one of those Aldi Medion 95000 Pda/Gps devices.
What software do I need to install in order to warn me of speed cameras?
Perhaps there is already within this website a guide I can follow,
Thanks for any help.

Update!
I managed to install POI Warner 2.32, downloaded the speed camera file from this site, converted the ov2 files to asc using the Tom Tom POI editor and uploaded them to the PDA.
I also uploaded the 5 excel worksheet and the 5 excel csv files into the PDA's POI folder (not sure if this was required)
I went out for a drive past a known speed camera, but it gave me no visual or audible warning at all, The only difference I have noticed is I have a red to green coloured bar at the bottom of the screen (that does nothing.)
Please tell me where I have gone wrong,

From the website:

POI-Warner version 2.3 (unregistered)

System requirements:
Medion-Navigator for PDA (all versions below 4)
Attention: Medion-Navigator 4 is not supported yet!

Could this be why? My PPC has version 4.2 of the Navigator software on it. I'm assuming yours has too. Sad

Has anyone successfully got the POI-Warner software working properly with the new Aldi unit? I would love to have it, but if it's not going to work then there seems little point Sad

Ah ignore that - shame you can't edit posts Embarassed
It seems there's an upgrade for Medion Navigator 4 available....do you have that (if it's required)

I'm new to this too, but because I'm so nice, I just downloaded and registered this software myself, and added the speed cam stuff. Hooray.

By default, there didn't seem to be any audible warnings set.
If you go to POI-Manager menu >> POI-Settings >> Acoustic alert

You have to add the POIs to the warnings with the +/- button, which should present you with a list of possibilities. Add the ones you want, then go to first/last warning tabs and select standard warning (or another if you prefer it)

I've not tested this yet, as i don't really live near any speed cameras....but you should be able to test it and tell me if it works :D

I also bought one of these Aldi pdas yesterday.

This morning I installed & registered Poi-Warner, ie the program that monitors where you are on the map and whats coming up(i.e. speedcameras).

Step 2 - I downloaded the speedcam database from this site and unzipped it to my PC. N.B.The files were in tomtom format (*ov2) so needed converting as in Step3 below..

Step 3 - Downloaded Poi-Edit from this site and installed it to my PC. Opened poiedit and converted the .ov2 files to .asc file format (Tools/batch convert).

Step 4 - Copied the *.asc files from my PC to the POIWarnerMN4-Edition/pois folder on the PDA and the .bmp file to give the speed camera icon on the map.

Step 5 - Found the cameras listed in the POI-Manager, POI-Settings, Overlaysettings list in POI-Warner.

Step 6 - about with .wav files to use for audible warnings.

I've been out in the car this afternoon and it works a treat. Dead chuffed as setting it up was dead easy when I thought it was going to be a bit tricky. Smile

Hope this helps.

Ian

How easy was it to can the Navigon s/w and install tomtom3 ? I'm considering doing that so I can d/l the utility that allows full 7-digit postcode searches.....

Would it be straightforward to re-install Navigon if I didn't like tomtom ?

I guess I probably wouldn't go back to Navigon anyway. I'll give it a whirl over the weekend - fingers crossed !!
