Not sure about the 300 mate. All I know is that when you put the 700 on the 215038 it forces the cover off the front of the unit. Handnav.co.uk confirmed it wouldn't work when I enquired and I've exchanged it for the 215027.

Best wait until it arrives and gently try and connect it.

Not sure what caused your problem, but my 215038 works with the original, 300 and the 700.

Wasn't worth starting a new topic for this I guess so I have tacked it on the end of this one.

In the review it was noted you couldn't plug the charger lead into the docking shoe if you used the 215027 mount because of the size of the head on the Tom Tom mounting bolt.

I have got round this by replacing that bolt with a 0.8mm bolt from B&Q. It does mean you need a screwdriver if you want to alter the position of the Tom Tom unit - but to be honest once it is installed how often to you want to change the angle of the unit.

I can now have the power supply into the docking shoe - which makes tidying the cables a lot easier...especially as I also have the external aerial complete with its seven metres of cable!

It appears you could still plug the external mic in as well - but I don't have one so I cannot confirm that.

Russgunn, I have just discovered that what you were referring to is happening to my TTG300 and the 215038.
When I click the TTG300 into the mount, the silver bezel is forced out in the area of the latch release button. I had not noticed this when the unit was mounted in the car but can be seen with the mount and TTG300 connected on the bench.
I think the answer is to mill a small section out of the centre of the front lip of the 215038 to stop it pushing the latch release button outwards.
John.

Just to add...I do now have an external mic..and yes you can plug it into the shoe if you swap the Tom Tom fixing screw with the replacement bolt as outlined higher up this topic.

John.

I have milled out a slot in the front face of the 215038 and it has cured the problem (for me!)

Is it possible to buy the alternate mounting bracket (not kit) in the UK.

Am I right in assuming that the 215027 is the only mount available from Brodit that will fit the 700 & still have Hands free phone facility.

Cheers

John

To have hands free phone facility you need to use the original docking shoe as it has the mic built into it. Therefore the Brodit mount pictured above will not allow use of hands free. However, in my opinion the mic in the docking shoe is woefully inadequate, especially travelling at speed. Best get the ext mic from tomtom, although in my tests it's not that much better! Confused

A better solution would be to use use a bluetooth headset for clarity, assuming your phone is BT capable, and using the tomtom to control the calls. That's what I intend to do.

Am expecting to buy the TTGO this month but I've a heated windscreen in my X type Jaguar so expect will need the TT antenna.

Only just noticed this post, my last car was an X-Type with Heated Screen and my current one is a Discovery again with heated screen. Never had any issues with any of my GPS receivers in either, no need for an external antenna.
