There is no technical reason that TomTom could not release the maps today. The Maps of Europe will work with TT Mobile. The problem is in the installation of the maps to the MMC (or SD card for SmartPhones) this is probably the process that TomTom need to finalise.
Thare should be no reason to purchase a new GPS device. At worst they could package the maps on a new memory card which you would need to swap when moving to a new area. _________________ Mike Barrett |

And what about S60 phones? Is it going to work on the Nokias(like 7610 & 6670) or not? And how about the memory card. The phones uses a RS-MMC card, and it is smaller than normal MMC card. Is there going to be TTM with RC-MMC cards? |

I have installed the software onto my Nokia 7610 and it seems to work fine no problems at all. The install works fine no changes needed, i just dont think that Tom Tom are ready to support a wide range of mobile phones yet. _________________ Regards

I'm working as a courier for one of the big national companies, and I have been working with TomTom Mobile for a couple of weeks now. For the price, (£170 from DABS) it is brilliant!
Just a couple of niggles ---
1) It's a shame you cannot use the GPS box while charging it. What I have found is that once I am on a motorway with an hour or two to go before needing the GPS, I put it on charge. With my working day being so long, and using the box constantly, one charge does not last out.
2) There are some, shall we say, geographic "confusion spots" for the software. E.G. driving from Manchester to York on the M62, at J29, when one SHOULD be in the left lane to take the M1, the box tells you to "keep right", right up until the last few yards -- a bit alarming for anyone not familiar with the junction! (I have found a few like that!) |

Nelson - Is that a statement or a question? If it's a statement, I'll have to try a few more sequence combinations of turning everything on! I have tried it a couple or three times and the E200 usually just says that the GPS signal has been lost |

Duh ...... That's what comes of being too clever!! What I had been doing is using the volts-switchable plug I keep in the van (via a 240-->12 volt inverter) to charge the GPS. Worked fine for that. BUT there was obviously not enough juice coming through to charge it AND power it simultaneously. I have now tried using the supplied car power lead and all is fine! Luckily there are TWO 12V sockets in the Peugeot Partner! |

I deal with mobile phones at work for our managers, had a manager resign and he gave us back the C500.
I was playing with it and noticed it had TOMTOM on it. Now, we don't have the GPS receiver as I guess he bought the package or something but I do have a BT GPS receiver from a different manager.
I can't get the thing to connect, it's not a TOMTOM one but from what I've read it won't work with a different receiver? Is this correct? |
