I am just getting a iPAQ with GPS unit and I am leaning towards getting the CoPilot 5 software for it. However after looking at their website I am a little unsure about the map levels included.

I would be getting the UK version of it so that comes with street level UK mapping. The issue comes when I look at the European maps. I believe it comes with street level on your PC but you cant load that into the iPAQ without the 'upgrade code', but what level do you get without the code to load onto the ipaq? My main intrest is for Fracne and Germany.

As long as it can navigate you around citys (main roads) and find smallish villages that will be OK as I can use the old Garmin eMap if I need to find a exact street off a road. If however it just shows motoroways/A roads it's not much use to me with out the upgrade.

Can any of you help?

Without the code, you can't use the Europe maps at all on your pocket PC (unlike TomTom, which bundles European main roads with the UK maps)
I have the CoPilot pan-Europe maps, which are very variable in the amount of detail offered. Coverage in Portugal is rather thin, many roads being omitted. In France most N and D and many smaller roads are there, and full street level mapping in most towns, but a lot of detail missing from some smaller villages. You also have to keep your wits about you - in France I have several times had incorrect voice instructions when taking slip roads into motorways or major roads - you have to keep your eyes open for the road signs and sometimes disregard what the voice is telling you. Nevertheless, it still is a great help when motoring abroad, and my wife says she has seen a lot more of the scenery than when she used to have her head buried in a road atlas.
