New User As Could Just Afford It
Been Having a Nice Sunday Drive Playing With My TTG
I Have Noticed There Are Alot Of Nottingham Cameras Missing (Fixed)
And A Few Ones Doubled Up
If I Add Them To My TTG Would They Be Removed If I Over Write With A New Database From This Web Site Etc
I Had A Play Adding And Deleting A New One To Try All OK
Would Love To Get The Nottingham / Shire DB Correct With Practice

All the Best

What I do is this:
* Create a new category called "My_Cameras" or somesuch - and add all the extra cameras to that
* Report errors and ommissions GPSWorld
* When new releases come out, replace the old files with the new - but KEEP my own cameras
*Check the new files to see whether the errors & omissions have been corrected. If they have, delete them from my own file. If they haven't, keep them in my file

That way, you can benefit from updates without wiping out your own additions. Hope this makes sense!

Roger's approach is the one I use - keeping a separate POI category for cameras I've recorded myself, then sending in updates to Richard periodically.

Don't forget that not only are we interested in cameras that need to be added, moved and deleted, but if we don't have a speed limit for a camera in the 'mobile' or 'gatso' files (signified by an @limit after the camera number), we're interested in that too. Send any updates to cameras(at)pocketgpsworld(dot)com - there's full instructions in the speed camera database Zip file.

Still a Few Of Missing / Doubled / Wrong Type / Mobile / And Speed To Do Tho

Quick Q

When I Updated I Had To Re Set Up The Warn When Nearby's Etc
Because I Removed The Old Ones First.
Can You Over Write To Keep The Warnings In Tact

If you just copy over the new files (accept YES to replace files) this will leave everything intact.

If there are additional files copied these will need to be set up.

Have I done something wrong??

I saw that the new database was on line dated 28 Feb 2005..

So I did what I normally did down-loaded and unzipped to its own folder...

Then I cut and pasted into the TTGO as per normal...

When it was crossing over it appeared that it was loading the same files as January - size and dates etc...

thought this was strange so I checked the version number and find it to be 3.014 but in the down load in box it says that it would be 3.024...

What Have I done wrong Confused

PS just to make sure I down loaded again and it was still 3.014 Sad

Did you delete the originals before copying? If not did you see a message box asking if you wanted to replace one file with another?

Is it possible you pasted the files to another folder in error?

The .BMP files all have the same date stamp.

As an afterthought - did you unzip the correct zip file?

Did I delete - NO - cut and paste as normal
Asked if Want to replace - Yes. - and yes to all
Wrong folder - NO double checked
Down loaded twice -- both came down with the 3.014

Its the down load it is comming down as an old file !! 3.014 -- all my bits that I do here are OK - for sure.... Honest !! Wink

When you download the .zip file does the version.txt file say it is v3.024 or v3.014?

If it says v3.014 then it is highly likely that your ISP is using a cache proxy and this has yet to update with the latest version of our database.

Are you on NTL by any chance? I ask because they use Inktomi cache servers and are especially problematic. We can't do anything about this, if your ISP forces you to use their cache or their transparent cache hasn't updated then you'll either have to wait for the cache to update or ask someone to email you the latest update.

Yes it will, NTL have configured their Inktomi's to refresh after a period of between 12 and 24hrs so they will update eventually!

I've emailed you the latest database to save you the wait (if I'd checked your email address I'd have known you were on NTL Embarassed ).

Errr - am I missing something somewhere? I've downloaded the zip file and that confirms I've got 3.034. But no OV2 files in there. Lots of CSVs in different categories, but no OV2 or BMPs.

Thanks
Rich

Well they're there! Extract the .zip and you'll have a subfolders for each type, one of which is 'ov2, bmp files' which contains the .ov2 and .bmp files! If you're using WinXP's do you have Winzip or are you using XP's built-in .zip file viewer?
