Both come with the software ready installed on a memory card, and with a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
Both are powerful wireless door to door navigation systems, which allow you to enter your destination on your phone handset, and recalculate routes if you go wrong.
Both display brilliant 3D maps on the screen of the mobile phone to show your route and the in-built speaker to give you voice directions.
Route 66 Mobile Britain, price £199.99 inc VAT, part AAAH0325 works on a wider range of Symbian 60 based mobile phones including Nokia 6600, 6620, 6630, 7610, 7650, N-Gage Sendo X or Siemens SX1
TomTom MOBILE, price £199.99 inc VAT, part AAAH0348, works with Nokia 6600, and the Microsoft Smartphone based SPV E200 and Qtek 8080
Neither package includes a mobile phone. For existing Smartphone users the cost of either system is considerably less than buying a standalone GPS. For users of less powerful mobile phones these new systems will be an ideal reason to upgrade!
Both include databases of points of interest, with Route 66 claiming 70,000 points-of-interest like hotels, restaurants and petrol stations, complete with addresses and telephone numbers.
Both allow route planning and to choose your own waypoints, with TomTom also including a feature to record favourite shortcuts.
