I am hoping that someone can help with a really frustrating problem.

I initially had a Garmin CF product that worked perfectly but changed my car and found that this did not work due to the car having tinted windows, so I decided to send it back an get a refund.

I read up on products out in the market and found that the Holux GM270 was even better than the Garmin product. So I purchased this unit, TomTom ver 3.03 to work with it and a 256MB SD card to store the maps as well. I installed all of this on my Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX 600 and found that while travelling the TomTom Navigator screen hung. You can still use the PDA. You can still use the map screen as well. When you go into the "GPS Status" screen you see the screen frozen with the position and satelites that it was receiving from.

To try and solve this problem I have hard reset the PDA and reinstalled all software. I have taken out the SD RAM and loaded a smaller map onto conventional memory of the PDA. I have loaded up the latest update for Tom Tom (June 2004). But after all of this I still have the same problem.

I have tried using the external ariel but the reception only changes slightly, and no other satellites are found.

Can anyone tell me if they are having the same problems or if you have any advice on how to solve this?

Thanks,

Beefy.

For the help to others that may experience the same problems.

I contacted Holux UK and they have told me that there is an incompatibility with the voltages that are supplied from the CF Slot on earlier versions of the Pocket LOOX CF Slot. Fujitsu Seimens have said that an upgrade to the latest ROM sorts this, but in my experience this made no difference. This seems only specific to the Holux CF Card as I had a Garmin CF Que card and this worked perfectly.

I have now returned this and replaced it with a Wired version (GM-230).

Can I just coment on how good Holux Tech Support were. They were fast at taking my call, knowledgeable and answered my problem with in 5 minutes of talking on the phone.
