Hi,
I’m looking at replacing my generic TomTom windscreen suction PDA mount with something that looks a bit more OEM. I reckon that Brodit could be the way to go as a lot of people on this forum seem to like their system.
I have a right hand drive 1995 Land Rover Discovery and an iPAQ 3970. I’m thinking that a passive mount (no expansion pack) would be best. Here’s what I’m thinking of:
Do I need anything else for the above to work?
Will the above two items bolt/screw together without any adjustment, or do I need to get the drill out?
I thought I heard of a quick release system for use with Brodit ProClip and the holder. Has anybody heard of it or know what I’m talking about? A quick release system would be great for swapping either different PDAs in the same vehicle or swapping the PDA to a different vehicle, etc.
Thanks, _________________ Robert.

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for your reply. I’m now investigating the idea of getting a second PDA (possibly an iPAQ 2210) for running Memory-Map, whilst running TomTom on the iPAQ 3970. I like to do car Treasure Hunts. The extra Brodit clip would have to be for a left-hand drive vehicle, e.g.:
ProClip 852096
Passive Holder, Tilt Swivel 848568
Darren and Mike, would you glance an eye over my requirements and comment whether I’ve got it right?
Is there any other retailer that can supply Brodit stuff, apart from Handnav? I emailed Chetan on Wednesday 14 July 2004, and then Sales @ Handnav on Thursday 15 July 2004. At the moment I’ve had no reply. If Handnav aren’t quick at answering my initial questions, in order to take my money, then I (rightly or wrongly) tend to assume that they will be slow in other areas, e.g. despatching the goods. I know that it’s only Tuesday 20 July 2004, but I need to get set up ASAP to ensure that the systems are working in time for my next event, which is on 1 August 2004.

Hi Swing,
Many thanks for pointing me in the direction of a Brodit quick release system, i.e. the Brodit Move Clip, especially the PocketGPS world review of it.
I’ve now bought and fitted a Brodit mount system (with Brodit Move Clip) to my vehicle and so far I’m very impressed with it. Please see the following topic:
