At first start-up long time to get a fix

I don't know what is going on with my Holux. After it has been off for ~8 hours it takes 3-5 minutes to get a fix. If I do a cold start through the software it takes somewhere between 45sec-1.2 mins. Any ideas?

multiple factors can contribute
- backup battery depletion, so the Almanach data (and maybe even the Ephemeris data) may be gone and needs to be completely reloaded
- "unhappy" satellite constellation. If you see four sats strong, and they appear to be in one row, then this still doesn't help you. They need to be as far away from each other as possible to give you the fix
- the antenna may be broken/out of tune.
- you may be moving already when it still tries to get the fix. Increases the probability that the receiver misses a cycle and needs to start over.
