New TomTom Navigator 2 SDK

Palmtop Software BV has announced today the launch of TomTom Navigator 2 Software Developer Kit (SDK). The new version of the kit allows system developers to integrate the features of TomTom Navigator 2 into any Pocket PC application.



The product includes a number of useful new functions, allowing developers to:

• Navigate to addresses and co-ordinates
• Continuously retrieve route information such as the estimated arrival time and remaining distance to the destination
• Include important information in real-time on the map
• Manage your Points of Interest (POIs)
• Customise Navigator with advanced configuration options

TomTom Navigator 2 SDK is compatible with TomTom Navigator 2.0. A free upgrade is available to existing holders of TomTom Navigator SDK.

Has anyone tried this SDK? I am looking into writing an application for my own use to start with, and I was wondering if anyone had tried the SDK and their thoughs on it.

SDK1 has been used by various developers, I haven't heard of anyone releasing something with SDK2 though.

Is the SDK worht the 199 EUR? I find it to be a hell of a lot of money for an API that has 24 methods in C++ and 27 in VB.
