You may recall that back in November Mike and Robert reported about the new Google Keyhole. Well Google have taken it a stage further now and have created maps.google.com.

Currently only available for North America, Google have now placed their feet firmly in the mapping business. Google are also providing maps based both on NAVTEQ and TeleAtlas which is a first.

Google allows you to search for places, Points Of Interest and retrieve full street level maps from maps.google.com. Not only that, the interface is sleak and you can drag the maps and quickly zoom in and out.

Just to show that it is not only Microsoft which has map problems, try searching for disneyland on maps.google.com !

This site (maps.google.com) is another bad example of how alternative browsers are ignored. Try accessing it from your Pocket Internet Explorer...

It's a pity because otherwise the ability to directly enter your current lat/lon would have come in handy...
