Using the new speed camera warning voices on my TTG has got me to thinking about the distance to set these warning messages at...

Obviously you would need a greater distance warning on a 70MPH camera as you're going to reach it faster than say a 30MPH camera..

Any thoughts on what you guys have your settings on is appreciated

Why not try "Doubling" the distance you have set at 30 mph. I suppose it's a matter of Trial and error.

You could try working out the distance you would be travelling for a given speed and time warning.

60 mph and 30 secs would be 880 yards

I've already done this. We don't need the speed related warning now!

500 yds for 70 reducing to 200 yds for 20. I'll start with that and adjust if necessary.

Interestingly this does not apply to RedLight cameras (according to the lads in Grey Suits) the time for changing lights and reacting to them is exactly the same whether you are travelling at 70mph or 20mph.

After getting a few points on my license I campaigned to have this changed to longer times between Green and Red in faster speed zones. Guess what the answer was?

Was the last word off, or did they say " Of course Sir, we'll do that for you" " No Problem".

I'de like to know what happens at these Redlight camera's, if your behind a slow moving vehicle, and the lights change to red, after you have started to cross the line.

Perhaps setting a greater distance for Redlights so that one is aware of them. Even a false alarm (away from road), is better than no, or late, warning.
