|

Can anyone help me? I follow the instructions for loading the POI database verbatim, but I keep getting the same error message from the SmartST software that came with my 510.
After editing and loading the CSV into the POI editor and slecting "save to device" - it churns away and then spits out the error message: "No POI's found in input file."
The file inside the POI editor looks exactly the same as the image of what it is supposed to look like. I have tried restarting the PC and resetting the 510 - no matter... i consistantly get that message.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks,
Ghaz. |

Wo! How long has the speed zoned folder been there?! I've been using POI Edit to automatically update, but today I went via the zip file and there's a whole 'nother folder there!
Is this a duplication of the main data that I can install instead of, or is it in addition to (have read the readme, but it was a bit ambiguous to me).
If it's a duplication, I assume I'm only turning off the Gatso and mobile POIs...?

Hi Simon,
The Speed Zoned folder is new this month – Richard (Oldie) has done a fantastic job!
Yes it is a full duplication of the main databases but split into speed zones. If you use the 20, 30, … , 70 and TBA ones then you will have the same as the original database so you don’t need to run both types. The choice is yours!

Great stuff :D Cheers! I'll try that out later. Must sound like a stupid question, but I'm only turning off the gatso and mobile listings, yes? _________________ What's going on? Where am I? |

It's you! Do you have cached pages, etc.? The latest one is definitely available from here. _________________ Tim |

NOW it works! please forgive - I must have been using the family braincell for breathing at that moment. I did think it loaded a bit quick - tried it a couple of times though.
Thanks anyway.

Probably been covered but please excuse me asking a question. I have a Navman 510 and have downloaded all the speed camera data. No problem there at all and Thanks very much for it My question is regarding mobile camera's. I work in Worksop and surrounding areas and know of several places where there is a regular crafty mobile camera (always on the point of a drop to 30MPH and always at an obscured point, and thats what gets my goat about them). I have not come across any warnings so far for these. Is it me that is misreading that they are on the data base, or have they not been added. If it is the latter how are they added, i can give you the junctions of the streets they hide on(illegally parked a lot of the times on the pavement also). If we all get together i am sure we can be of great assistance to each other. Regards............. |

Hi Dave,
I’ve just updated my camera database and am very pleased to see you have broken it down into the relevant types i.e. "gatso & specs" etc which is great. However is it in the pipeline to break the database down further into speed limit as well? This is a function that is available on some other databases but these are nowhere near as accurate as yours.
Keep up the good work |

No, it's not in the pipeline because as of the end of January 2005 - we already split the database into speed zones for cameras with a known speed limit . If you look in the ZIP file you will see a folder called "speed zoned" which contains:
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_TBA.ov2

How about adding schools - I found these useful on the Snooper S4 Neo which gave an audible warning when approaching a school. The database mush be out there because its downlaodable onto the Snooper. _________________ Life's a bitch... then I met Jane... |

Hi JohnBoy59,
No I don’t think that adding schools to the database is a good idea. We want people to be warned about cameras so that they can concentrate on the immediate area around their vehicle and drive accordingly, especially when there are young pedestrians and cyclists (who may have little or no road sense) in the area. This is regardless of whether there is a school nearby or not.
Some people may question why anybody would want a list of schools! Unfortunately there are some very unsavoury people out there who might use a school database for the wrong reason.
