Best way to install map or maps

Is it better to install the GB map as one 95mb file or to break it down into smaller areas ie Greater London, Southern England etc. I am asking the question as logically if you are searching a smaller database it should be quicker.

If you install small pieces you can't route between them, and you have to change from one map to another manually as you drive across borders.



TomTom have a tip that says install the whole map on a card for cross country routing, but keep a 16Mb or 32Mb segment of the local area in main memory for everyday use.
