Good Afternoon All,

TO my delight pocketgps have published the latest speed camera database 8) I'm wondering should I REMOVE the current databse's from my iCN510, or simply overwrite it?

Thanks.

I tend to remove and reload as opposed to overwrite. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but I think there's less chance of corruption that way.

I overwrote mine and it came out fine. However, if one wished to, how does one go about removing the files first? (Pretend you're writing to an idiot and give me ALL the details - presume nothing!).

I would just overwrite it.

When you open the POI Editor from the SmartST Desktop programme, click on Device > Manage POI files. You can delete them from there.

Cheers for that. I'll be brave and try it next time. Confused

I've downloaded the database no problem, but the YELLOW SPEED CAMERA ICON appears a bit.. squiggly...? Any Ideas, or just you the traditional Black 'n White..?

Cheers,

Thank you for the update but I noticed a new file as well: "uk_temp". What is this? It was not mentioned anywhere else.
Do you have any suggestion on how us navman users can record accurately new safety cameras other than going back, stopping(not advisable most of the time) and taking note of the coordinates. Or is it enough to send the nearest long/lat by guesswork because you are going to filter it anyway? I'm not very familiar with Tomtom but I think it has got a facility that you can just press a button to record POI's.

uk_temp is for putting cameras associated with temporary speed restrictions. They are generally removed at the end of the roadworks that they are monitoring.

As to recording, I have Lutz's excellent Screen snapshot recorder. If I spot a camera not in the database, I take a snapshot with a single press of a hardware button and then record what the snapshot is about. The recorder is part of the prog too. For instance, I'd record the screenshot and say "Gatso near junction of X and Y, facing into town" or whatever. If I knew that I was going the same way again within that calendar month then when I was approaching the same site I'd switch to GPS Status, which shows Lat and Long, and take another shot of that view as I was passing (or stopped by if possible) the offending camera, recording a voice message again. In fact I will be doing this tonight, as last night I noticed two cameras had popped up on the A215.

If you contact Lutz (lbendlin) he might just sell you a copy, or you can find it here for a whopping US$4!

Thank you for the reply but will this program work on the icn 510? I'm sorry I was not very specific on what I am using in my initial post.

Oh, sorry. I do not know of any software which will allow you to take screenshots on an iCN510.

I've just got my Navman iCN 510 today.
I've updated it with the latest service pack too.

I've installed the safety camera database and taken out the first line as instructions.

When all installed the bmp on the screen appears slanted.
Same problem as Tim Buxton.
Is there a cure for this?

Put some POI from POIhandler and the bmp's on them are ok.

Many Thanks.
