tt3 USA maps

just seen on expansys that they r expecting tt3 USA maps on 9th October, but not seen anything on the tt site, anyone else heard if this is the date for release ??

I heard that it was supposed to be "mid-October" on a forum somewhere.

Am not convinced of this and have a question in with TomTom at the moment. Will let you know if they ever get back to me.

Hi

Tomtom got back to me this morning with the following:

"TomTom USA will be available on the website mid of October for European customers with Navigator 3."

Hope this helps you... didnt help me since I wanted to know about the Maps for TomTom Go :-(

So this means there will be TomTom Navigator 3 maps for the USA. Does it mean that all of us poor sods using TT2 in the US will finally get an update to TT3 and be able to get an update to our map data or are we being left out in the cold waiting for whenever they decide to ship TT4 for PPC?

the maps as far as i am aware are just for tomtom 3 users, doubt they will be compatible with the us tomtom 2.
why not get a copy of tomtom 3 software only and then get the USA maps for it ?

When they released TT3 in Europe, if you had bought and registered TT2 within a certain period (3 months maybe), of the TT3 release, you were sent a free upgrade to TT3 with the map that originally came with your release. If you had bought TT2 before that, you didnt get the free upgrade and had to pay for it.

I dont know how TT handled it in the US.... maybe the same??

Sorry to bump an old thread but where on the expansys site are the US maps? I can't find them or any news of them anywhere.

I'm going to the US on the 24th so this is cutting it fine :p

That doesnt help me either. I bought TT2 USA + TT2 maps of Europe so I'd be covered both sides of the atlantc. This worked fine with TT2. I've since had my free upgrade to TT3 maps of europe but I cant use them because there is no upgrade to TT3 for the US software.

It seems pretty crap to me that TT cant keep thier software in line worldwide.

I got the USA maps from Expansys and loaded them onto my SD card. It works no problem but should I load the USA version of TomTom navigator, it appears to work fine as it is?

You can happily use the UK English Navigator 3 program with the Navigator 3 US maps once you've activated the maps on your Pocket PC.

If you wish, you can buy Navigator 3 Great Britain and install the French software. All that matters is that you're happy to use one of the language versions of software, one of the sets of voice files (or roll your own, which is not entirely trivial) and that you activate all the maps you own on your device.
