Considering the UK model has 256MB of memory to the US 128MB, do you think the memory in the US version could be upgraded/hacked?

I really like my Quest, but i'm tired of having to upload maps... I really want 1GB or so in there...

They could have easily made the memory upgradable and with memory prices falling all the time, it should make sense but Garmin's marketing is that if you want more memory then you have to buy the more expensive 2xxx unit.

I am sure the upgrade can be done, there was a hack for the GPS-V to upgrade the 32 Mb of memory in that. It wasn't for the faint hearted though.

256Mb is not that bad really, my old GPS-V only has 19Mb of useable memory! How expectations have changed! 8O

i only have the 128mb (115mb free) version, but i guess i'm spoiled anyway... i want the entire usa on this thing...
