Hi, thanks for the info.
Coordinates are required if these are to make it into the database. (If not already present)
Are you local to any of them? _________________ Ian.

Hi there
They're not really that local to me, all over 10 miles away. I have found a nice site here
http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_control/documents/contentservertemplate/dft_index.hcst?n=10553&l=3
That gives comprehensive details of fixed and mobile cameras around the country. The details are in excel format at the bottom of each page (for each county).
A large list of mobile sites are given for Greater Manchester and other counties, could these be added to a mobile database?
One other question, does anybody have a list of the accident blackspots around the country, and is it possible to create a database of these, and set POIassist to alert within 3 - 4 miles of these (since mobile sites aren't supposed to operate outside a 3 miles radius of accident blackspots AFAIK) |

It depends on your definition of an accident blackspot. This can be quite a loose term when the authorities want to apply it. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Tomjeffs - That's a really useful website thanks for the link. However I still believe that co-ordinates are required to get inclusion into the database ! ..maybe though we could all use the most local spreadsheet to check the data on our travels ! :D |

certain areas do show coordinate for the cameras.
i.e in my area West Midlands - http://www.wmsafetycameras.co.uk/regions.php if you click on a camera the reference is shown in streetmap.
I knew there were a lot of camera around where I live but even I was suprised to find that there are over 50 around Dudley - plus I know of another 3-4 that are being installed but not listed yet.
Despite the hard work everyone put it it looks like it wont be long before the database is useless as every street corner has a camera fitted! |

The site that I use is http://www.nationalsafetycameras.co.uk/index.html as it gives links to a lot of official sites. The quality of the data varies a lot, from simple lists to OS maps. However, very few give coordinates
I have used some of the sites in the recent database releases but it is a very tedious process to get positions visually from maps.
