I should be very grateful for saome advice on the following, please:-

I have just purchased a Drivesmart 66 to replace a Tom Tom Start 25 which has stopped working.

I would like to hear the voice anouncement for the speed cameras on the Garmin in the same way as i did on the Tom Tom and to this end I installed (via (POI Loader) the Camera Database with voice packs in MP3 format.

I can see the cameras listed in the custom POI section of the settings menu.
But, unlike the Tom Tom I cannot find how to link the voice announcements with the respective speed camera

Also, i cansee speed cameras om the Map (in demo mode), but do not know if this is the camera database already built in to the garmin or the Pocket GPS one

If somebody has the time to give me some help i should be very grateful
Thanks

For the standard Garmin CSV :

https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=97158

or, for more control over alerts and distances :

https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=91951

I recommend the V2 which is linked on the latest posts.

@Kremmen

Thanks very much for the link.
I have managed to get it to work in Demo mode and will have to test it out in the car on the week end.

Just a few questions, if you have time.

In "Demo" mode i found that a speed camera anouncement was interupted by a "navigation" announcement, such that it did not confirm the speed limit on the camera.
Is there any way of giving priority to the speed camera announcements?

Also
If and when I wish to update the Camera database do I have to carry out the whole procedure again or is there a quicker way?

Am I correct in thinking that all future downloads of the updated Camera database will always have to be carried out via the CSV conversion program?

thanks

Morning

I have no way of interfering with the navigation v camera warning.

The weekly update procedure is :

Download via the program
Unzip just the camera files (the bold option in the dropdown list)
Process
Use POILoader

Once you're used to it a couple of minutes at most

Thanks for the reply

When carrying out an update will I need to delete the "Old" .gpx files and/or the "Old" zip file from the "Working Folder or will they be overwritten with the updated files?

thanks

It depends how you operate re the downloaded file.

By default the PGPSW file always has a different filename. If you don't keep on top of this you can end up with a string of files and you need to identify the latest one.

I have my browser set to 'ask me every time' a file is downloaded so I get the 'save as' dialogue and I can then overwrite the existing file.

2) You don't need to delete any existing CSV or GPX files in the 'working folder' as the program takes care of this.
