every now and then i get a problem with my dell axim 5 running tomtom3.
its mainly when the pda is turned on in the mornings and connected up.
it just goes extrememly slow and the coloured dial will just go round & round waiting to load up navigator.
after a dozen shutdowns and soft resets, the problem seems to disappear and all is well again.

i have a 256mb CF card with only navigator, ukpostcode & little pieces of software installed on it, i.e. speed camera detection.
The CF card is only 2 weeks old if that.

Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be?

i though it may be a power problem but both batteries are fine and when its in the cradle in the van, its powering up at the same time as running.

any ideas would be gratefully welcomed

If you have been using it for a while you probably should be aware of the running/connecting sequence of software/cables?
If you are not aware ofit then it is the problem.

Soft reset your PDA, start navigation software, and then connect the cables.

There are two possibilities I can think of:

1) the CF card. Usually it's a poor SD card that produces these symptoms, but a poor CF will do the same

2) have you put the program files onto the CF card rather than main memory. This can have unpredictable results.
