Connect the unit to a PC and look in the POI folder.

Thank you. I'll try that. Worked a treat. Many thanks.

My mistake. All I managed to do was remove the speed cameras.

Yes, you do need to identify the correct file.

Are you referring to the built in ones from Garmin or ones you have manually added?

I manually added them some time ago. I'm now fed up with seeing knives and forks all over the screen.

Search the device for all .GPI files and post back what you find.

We can then compare notes as to what should and shouldn't be there as I've got no additional POI's.

No rush, I'm not back home till Sunday

Note Garmin will hoover up POI files from anywhere, not just in the POI folder, so do a global search for .gpi files. Having said that the issue appears to be that you have the Up ahead map layer checked, which is why you're seeing knives and forks etc everywhere. Uncheck it and they should disappear.

Found one .gpi file 1.33 mbyte. Deleted it and when I checked the POI file it was empty. I won't be out in the car until tomorrow so I'll have a look and see what's happened then.

Unfortunately all it did was to get rid of all the speed cameras. When I use the POI loader to load the speed cameras I get the message: ‘Congratulations you have successfully loaded 17671 POIs on your device.’

On a PC you should be able to the creation date, plus the filename will be the POILoader folder name so you can identify that one easily.

I've tried everything now and the only way I seem to be able to get rid of the knives and forks is to lose the speed cameras as well. Looks like I'm going to have to live with it.

You should listen to sussamb, I think. Very Happy

On my Garmin 2599. I get icons for knives and forks (etc) on the screen from the (Foursquare) POIs which are effectively built into the map.

The way to hide them is as sussamb has said.

On my Garmin, I go into settings for Map & Vehicle ... Map Layers and uncheck Up Ahead and press Save.

Dales.
