Perfect Smile

Would it be possible to change the Speed excess warning from a sound effect to a variable TTS voice alert ? (Subject to anyone else thinking it would be useful)

I think I'd respond better to a "You are still speeding" or whatever we type in, in much the same way as the main voice alert.

Bluetooth 'Enable hands free mode for voice' what exactly does that do ?

First thing i.m going to do with speeding alert is to make short alert sound repeating every 5-10 seconds (if necessary) as alternative to continuous sound. Then variable TTS alert.

When "Enable hands free mode..." is checked, the app makes "pseudo phone call" to your radio unit and speaks "speed camera, limit 50...". This is the only way to interrupt FM/CD and to output voice to a car speakers.

With this option unchecked, behaviour is little different. If a phone is paired via bt with the radio unit, the app detects whether the phone plays music. If it does, the app uses 'media' channel and Android system mixes two sources. If does not, the app switches to the 'ringer' or 'alarm' channel, and the sound goes to the phone speaker. Note: the app never adjusts global volume level (intrusive behaviour). Only user, manually.

Through 2 different specs zones on the way back to work. Both times the banner worked fine and showed my average speed, although not sure what the --mi means (possibly another feature for another database). Both times as well, the exit specs zone has worked and switched the banner off about 50 yards after exiting. I like Very Happy

This, for me, was a major selling point. After my phone auto connects to the car and STA starts I do not have to worry which audio source I am listening to (radio, cd, Bluetooth or aux ) the alert is routed without dipping or muting my music or audio book. Perfect 👌

My only question is regarding the reporting of cameras, where does the report go to? They're is also no way of noting a camera for removal or modification. The ideal would be a csv file that I can double check and then send to PGPSW with photos if necessary.

It is a brilliant app though and thanks for your work

If the app can calculate zone length (it can with road network loaded), it displays a distance left to the next SPECS instead of '--mi'.

50yd - I think this is the sum of GPS accuracy and position precision of the point in the database. I'd say this is ok.

The end Specs at the M4/M25 worked perfectly, announced end of zone and turned popup off.
It also turned off Specs zone, presumably fuzzy logic or whatever, after I'd left the M4. Not for quite some distance though, locations available.

@Leo_A I can confirm that when you get back to back cameras from close proximity it's failing to cut the 'phone call' and therefore return audio.

I know exactly where this happens and can supply location if necessary.

My next suggestion is to turn off the average speed display, I'm using speedo only view, except when in an average speed zone ? Again, subject to a seconder.

I like this app Smile

That's good.
No special fuzzy logic. The app analyzes changes of direction when moves throug the zone. If it detects change for more than 60 degrees in short interval of time, then it is highly likely that the car has left the zone. This is not fully reliable and may fail sometimes.

Phone call and location- yes, please. I'll run the app there under GPS emulator. Also, what was your approximate speed.

M4 westbound where it meets the A308, near Maidenhead. Smart motorway roadworks so I was doing exactly 50mph

There is the M4 middle camera and another middle camera on the sliproad immediatelly south.

That should be enough.

Strange one today

Not changed anything and it's not done it before

Travelling in an average speed zone. STA Speedo displaying 50, average displaying 50, exactly as previous, but the overspeed was beeping away until I dropped my speed to 49.

First warning 100yd (don't need loads of advance warming for Specs)
Variable distance - Any
Speed excess warning 0yd (again, just need to know excess speed when in zone)
Beeper 0yd
Speed to activate beeper - 20mph

I've upped the tolerance to +1mph for my next run which is probably Friday.

Why would it suddenly decide that 50 in a 50 zone is overspeed?

K,

Presumably, you were driving with cruise control on, so you were doing an exact 50 mph?
Was it bleeping all of the time? When did the bleeping start/stop?

Is it a delay?
Whilst completely separate, my new Viofo dashcam has the ability to stamp the speed on the recording. However, when I run the footage through Dashcam Viewer (dashcam viewing software on the Mac) I notice that there is a time delay (of a second or two) of the Viofo speed stamp when compared to the reading of the viewing software.

Just a thought!

Regards,
