Several months ago I submitted a series of average speed cams on the A338 near Bournemouth which you accepted. However, although 3 of them now appear as confirmed, the other 3 are still regarded as provisional (pSPECS:202256@50,pSPECS:202260@50,pSPECS:202260@50). These are start end or middle related to the ones already accepted - not sure how you can accept an end camera without a start and vice versa! Please fix.

There are two unverified start and two unverified end cams at or about the location that you state.

202267 End hdg 225 @ Latitude: 50.75117 Longitude: -1.82111
203349 End hdg 201 @ Latitude: 50.75473 Longitude: -1.81700
These are about 500 yards apart

202256 Start hdh 45 @ Latitude: 50.75235 Longitude: -1.81930
203348 Start hdg 22 @ Latitude: 50.75512 Longitude: -1.81709
These are about 350 yards apart

I suspect that MaFt is awaiting confirmation of which pair (if either) are correctly located.

Also 202260 mid @ Latitude: 50.76290 Longitude: -1.81154 is within 500 yards of the verified end cam 202264 @ Latitude: 50.76644 Longitude: -1.80802

Now you can see the full story perhaps you can appreciate the problem. i.e. If the reported positions of the two unverified end cams can differ by 500 yards, who's to say that 202260 is not just a miss for 202264

Thanks for the explanation. If it helps, this is how it was explained to me on a 'speed awareness' course!

Heading 'south'
SPECS:202265@50 Start
SPECS:202266@50 Middle
pSPECS:202267@50 End
The middle camera is to make sure we are slowed before the dangerous merge point entry - that is why it is so close to the start camera.

Heading 'north'
pSPECS:202256@50 Start
pSPECS:202260@50 Middle
SPECS:202264@50 End
The middle camera is to catch those turning off at the junction.

I know that the start and end cameras work but have no evidence if the middle ones are just dummies - given the reputation of this junction and the fuss when the cameras were introduced, I suspect all are live.

OK. I understand that, but, there is conflicting information as to exactly where the two southmost cameras are located, and in the case of one, there is nearly 1/4 mile discrepancy and the other just over 1/4 mile discrepancy. So I suspect that MaFt is awaiting another report or two, or a report from a verifier to accurately locate them.

@geddit please note that what M8TJT and I, as Verifiers, can see on the map is ALL the unverified cameras there, whereas you can only see the ones which you have submitted. Obviously you “know” that your cameras are correct, but somebody else has also submitted “correct” cameras nearby. MaFt’s problem as Administrator is he can’t believe both (or all) of you, he needs confirmation.

I've been out to a fair few camera reports where they are hundreds of yards out. This is probably due to the delay in seeing the camera and pressing the submit button within CamerAlert, assuming that is the submission method.

Of course, as mentioned, MaFt has a predicament.

If you have any photos or dashcam footage then that speeds up confirmation as verifiers aren't everywhere.
