Hi!
I'm a newbie in everything. I started cycling a couple of month ago and need to choose equipment for it. I found https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/bike-computers these variants. And don't know which one is better. Everybody talks about Garmin but it's a little bit out of my budget and I don't know does it cost that money.
Please, help me with your wise advice.
Thanks!
I think the answer to which of those would be best for you as a new cyclist rather depends upon how serious a rider you are and what information you would like to monitor and how you would like to view it.
However, a few years ago I used to ride a lot, well, I considered it to be a lot but when you watch something like the Tour de France, it puts it into perspective. I used my SatMap10 with a cycle mount but found it too cumbersome and time consuming to extract the information i wanted. I also decided that i didn't want another brand of dedicated gps cycle computer. i.e. Garmin.
I went to Halfords and bought a cheap, wireless trip/speed computer which, once calibrated, I strapped to my handlebars so that I would have a constant visual of speed, distance and time. and then I bought an affordable, no frills, basic, second hand Android phone and downloaded these three apps - RideWithGps, JogTracker & Strava. All three apps have websites where you can set up a free account for basic membership and features. These basic accounts suit me fine but the world is your lobster if you need more data logging and are willing to pay.
While riding I keep the Android phone in a jersey pocket or side pocket on my day sack/CamelBak.
I couldn't get on with Strava, its too social-media centric for me but it has a good following. I like JogTracker, I use it for most things, hobby cycling, jogging, walking, swimming, motorbiking, etc. But when on my bicycle and going for a "proper ride" I'll always use the Ride with Gps app and then upload the ride to my account over wifi with a tap of an icon, it is so simple and can be reviewed and analyzed and even shared if you so wish among a whole host of other things too. I find it really very good and feature rich.
I'm not sure which of these apps, if any, are available for iPhones if that is your brand but there shall be others.
Sorry to reply to your question of which bike computer on your list would be the best for you with a totally different scenario, but this is just what I have found what works for me.
EDIT by AoH. Corrected the spelling of the Strava app from Strada. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
