That's why I guessed at Quorn next although that doesn't fit in with the dessert theme.

Working for me on Pie. Only issue being, if you use gestures and hide the navigation bar there is no way to get to the CamerAlert menu to update the database.

Tap the PGPSW logo at the top right. This was added some time ago for those devices where there wasn't a physical 'menu' button.

I'm running Android 9 (Pie) on a Note 9. I updated to Pie recently and since then Cameralert keeps asking me to 'Please Update'. It asks this a few seconds after I receive the first camera warning. Normally if I haven't updated the database I get the warning as soon as I start CA. I have updated before starting out and I get no warnings at startup, just during the journey. The voice used is the one used to signal 'All Clear'.
I'm going to try a workaround by setting the 'All clear sound' to None. I can live without the all clear.
I'll let you know if it works.

That sounds weird... Have you tried clearing the app cache and maybe even reinstalling (although will need to re-register the device and re-link your account) to see if that helps?

@MaFt
I cleared the cache but still the same.
I then changed the voice to none for All Clear voice but still the same.
I reinstalled the app and still the same.
I'm going to try having no voice warning as an experiment to see if that changes anything but I couldn't live with that setup permanently.
I'm also going to try stopping all other running apps while using CA. At the moment I use a DashCam app at the same time.
Edit..
Tried with CA running alone but no difference
Turned off all voices and got no warnings. Reset all voices on and got no warnings about updating so inconclusive. Seems to have cured itself for now....famous last...

sent multiple crash logs today, every time i had to reopen it on android 9.

Anyone read them ?

Opened a support ticket.

Updated my review.

If it's unusable on recent Android (and iOS by the looks) why would I renew?

It's the only reliable database, BUT nobody develops the app !

Rant over

seriously, update the app, it's not Dec 2015 (last app version )anymore

Just for the record, CA is working flawlessly on my Sammy S10 under Android Pie.

However, I don't run it with maps, that setting is 'none'.

Years ago it was running with maps that caused my old HTC One M7 to crash. As you, I sent in numerous crash logs and heard nothing.

Without maps my display is just a black background with any near cameras showing with distance and direction which is more than I need as my Garmin shows me upcoming cameras on a map. Plus my phone is out of view anyway.

I'll try that today.

Let's see if we can find a reason for the non-alerting mobile.
What is its camera number and what is your direction past it? Does it alert if you pass it in the other direction?

With the missing alert .... have a close look at your alert distance and 'angle cone' setting and then compare that with your approach.

We had one here a while ago that wasn't giving a warning. That was because the road was being turned into, from a 90 degree angle, within the alert distance so missed. I seem to recall he had his warning set to 30+ seconds and the time to the camera from joining the road was only 10 to 15 seconds.

If that makes sense
