Hi,
I've recently bought a couple of TomTom GO 940s as replacements my 910s.
Now I may be just being really dumb but I have an icon that sits on the screen doing nothing.
I can't find anything about online so I'm assuming it's linked to TomTom's LIVE services over GPRS but it’s only a guess.
Please could someone tell me what this icon indicates and if there is a trick that allows you to hide it?
Thanks Very Happy

I would guess that model has Wifi but it's disabled hence the line through it.

This old model doesn't have WiFi so it can't be that.
Also it can't be linked to GPS signal strength etc as it stays there all the time.
I thought it might be to do with the FM transmitter but nope.
The icon doesn't change at all it just sits there bugging me?
Although neither of these units have an active LIVE superscription I was wondering if it's a mobile network indicator as both will have SIM cards installed internally?
The user guide for this model only covers the original Navcore it was released with, which was akin to the legacy GO models.
I've downloaded the 950 user manual which does appear to cover this Navcore but there's no sign of this icon in the user guide or screen shots.
As the 950 was technically a lesser model it may be referring to hardware that's missing from later models?

Sorry I forgot to say that I've also put it in flight mode so all transmitters and receivers are off and it's still there!

I've got a 550 Live & a 940 Live, both without a current live subscription, and once they lock on to sats, that icon disappears for sure so sorry I can't help further. Maybe worth asking on the TT forum:-

Hi,
Both of my 940s show this icon all the time on the screen.
It does shift slightly to the right when a speed limit circle is shown then pops back to the far left after it's gone.
It's just annoying as it appears to currently show no purpose.
I'll also post to the TomTom forum and see if anyone can shed some light on it.

I've just rolled back to the previous Navcore and the icon is no longer there.
Also clicking on "Version Information" and then "Network" brings up all the IMEI and SIM card info etc which remains blank with "Connecting..." in Navcore 9.541.
I think It's a bug in the latest Navcore Sad

Okay... I've identified the problem... I hope this is helpful to others.
Navcore 9.541 is buggy and on the GO 940 LIVE it kills off the mobile connection (SIM) so the mobile network connection icon (finally I know what it is) stays permanently on, so sussamb was nearly correct.
Unfortunately Navcore 9.510 has the same problem Sad
Navcore 9.465 appears to work fine and swapping the glgps file with the one from Navcore 9.541 fixes the WNRO issues.
So fingers crossed it's good to go now Very Happy

Buggy's the word indeed as both my 940 & 550 Lives (with no traffic sub on either), work correctly & although I understandably don't get Live services, the icon does NOT show! Weird/buggy/spooky whatever.
