you need to use Garmin poi loader to create the file this has to be placed on to a USB stick (sd card is for map updates only) in a folder Garmin /POI before you insert the USB stick in to the Garmin it has to be on the navigation home screen (where to /view map) then insert the USB stick and a popup appears click yes then job done. voice alerts can work on the Kenwood just follow the Garmin guide on this site.
csv to gpx converter is a good piece of software to configure the alerts to how you want them software downloads and guide available on this site.

For the audio you need to use the WAV files. Can you confirm you have sox.exe in the same folder as POILoader.exe

Also, have you extracted the files from the downloaded zip file?

And, finally, does POI Loader confirm that around 30,000 POIs have been loaded after it's run?

Well in response..

I’ve downloaded the zip file including .wav files
Unzipped the file and saved to desktops

I’m using the Garmin POI loader.app on Mac computer Followed all the steps .. and placed the POI onto a mem stick

I have in the downloaded file:

Poketgps_u...asto .. bmp files
Poketgps_Uk...Gaston.. cvs files
Poketgps_u.. wav.

I do not see any other .exe files.

File size 20.6 MB

Still not working.. Sad although I can select individual .wav files they play on my pc & Kenwood unit ..but no audio whilst in sat nav..

OK, the Mac version doesn't need sox.exe to add the audio files - that's a Windows thing.

When you run POI Loader at the end it should say how many POIs have been transferred.

Can you let us know how many?

Also, are you saying there are only 3 files in the zip download?!

There are no .exe files in the download. That's why you can't find one.

If there is no separate volume control then you will need to tweak the .wav files in something like Audacity.

Hopefully Audacity has a batch volume tweaker like my Adobe Audition or it can take some time..

on a dnx5240 dabs, I had to reduce the wav volume by 85% using audacity to get the volume to the same level as navigation newer kenwoods done require any adjustment at all.

Just to clarify. When you said reduce by 85%, did you mean that the resulting file was reduced in amplitude by 85% so that it is now only 15% of its original? Or did you mean 'reduced to 85%' of original. In this case it makes a lot of difference.

Sorry to be so pedantic, but lots of peeps screw up especially when they say stupid things like 'reduced by 10 times' instead of saying 'reduced to one tenth'.

So the advice here is keep the originals and work on a copy set.

You can always download another set when you have reduced the originals to 15% and can no longer hear them K. Rolling Eyes

I reduced it by 85% to 15%. unmodified it played at radio max volume reducing it to 15% it played at 15% of max radio volume. Poi warning volume is set at 100% of max radio output and cannot be changed. It is independent of satnav voice volume. So the only way to change the volume is to modify the file and see that you think of the new volume. It took a few tries until I got it to a level I liked. On newer kenwoods poi volume is linked to satnav voice with poi only marginally louder than voice directions.
