Should have posted this ages ago but kept forgetting.

I have CameraAlert on an Iphone 5c 10.3.3 and I only use the app very infrequently.

On some journeys the camera site appears on the screen but the alerts aren't triggered either visual or audio. Other times same journey and everything works fine
I just can't pin down what is the problem.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Are the cameras on the other side of the road?

Are they the last cameras in a sequence of Average Speed cameras?

Thanks for the replies.

I live in North Yorkshire so they are all mobile sites.

The problem occurs on the same roads and same direction.

Can you give me some locations/roads - better still would be the camera IDs. If you look at the submission map here: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras&op=SubmitCamera and then click on the camera icon it should pop up with the camera type and id eg GATSO:54321@30 - in that example the ID is 54321.

Thanks for the reply. I tried your link but couldn't find the map with camera locations.

Maybe it is because at the moment I haven't got a current subscription. I was trying to make sure I could sort this problem before i renew.

Right got it now, click on OSM
Below are two sites which don't always alert

MOBILE:194012@60
Heading:316 (Reversible)

pMOBILE:180909@40
Heading:277 (Single Direction)

PS if you see a mobile van how do you know if it is single direction or reversible.

They normally trap when approaching the 'business end' but can trap the other way, but anyone stupid enough to pass one 'the wrong way' at excessive speed deserves to be caught.
A policeman with a 'handgun' is a different story though, as all he has to do is turn around. You then have to assess the feasibility of him doing this with regard to his location and the road layout.

Total agree it would be stupid but if the camera is listed as single direct and you approach the wrong way you won't have had a warning.

I know some recently acquired mobile vans in N York are reversable. Should all mobiles be listed as reversible

As a verifier, my rule of thumb is that a mobile camera site is reversible unless it’s on a dual carriageway or a motorway. The exception is when the site is on a bridge so it becomes reversible.

I'm sure I've seen camera vans, sort of mini Transit Luton style, with cameras front and back.

West Yorkshire SCP have a camera window above the front window and a camera window in the back door.

That's really odd. The cameras are both placed on the road and also have the correct heading data. Do the icons show on the map when driving past them?

Sorry I wasn't very clear, when I said N Yorkshire's new vans were reversible I meant front and rear cameras.
