Would it be an advantage if we gave him a single set of files that are known to work with Garmin K?
How about a single GPX created with CSV-GPX converter with associated BMP and WAV files? If that doesn't work, a known good CSV and associated files?

That could be a copyright problem.
All that is allowed, with permission, is a few cameras, local to the OP. Trying to sort that out could take some time.

What the OP could do is copy and paste the first 2 GPX lines so I an see if it complies with the Garmin schema.
First line is the schema details 'topografix' for example and the second line should be a 'wpt' line.

I obtained gpx files from a website called speedcamupdates for 7 euros. I have reason to believe I may have been duped because those files look too small and PoiLoader was not able to convert them.

I'm in the process of getting a refund with Paypal for that.

I've independently found a 5meg gpx file from an A class forum which was converted successfully to GPI with POILoader but that still failed to be imported.

Today I will try adding one of the free POIs available on this website eg estate agents and see what happens. I will try gpx and gpi and see what happens.

If you have any other ideas/suggestions then please let me know.

It won't allow me to post xml tags/code even if I wrap into code tags.

Any suggestions?

Remove the chevrons, I'll understand it.

I removed all references of chevrons and replaced them with space.

These are the first two lines of the file.

Code:
 ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?
 gpx:gpx creator="" version="1.1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:gpx="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd" xmlns:gpxd="http://www.daimler.com/DaimlerGPXExtensions/V2.4"  gpx:wpt lat="48.736390" lon="2.301640"  gpx:name Speed Camera 50 /gpx:name

Update:

The gpx downloaded from this website (real estate agents and building societies) failed to be loaded as GPXs.

Unsure why.

I will try as GPI too as a last resort and then I will probably give up.

I dont know what other avenue to explore.

It seems plain that he is only interested in POIs from this site (and camera files from elsewhere).

Quote the POI download page -

"PocketGPSWorld.com have several hundred Points of Interests (POIs) categories available for download right now - for FREE!"

The GPX snippet supplied looks like it's aimed at a Garmin and it has what looks like a Daimler specific extentions tag which again is probably OK.

On the face of it it looks OK but what I can't say is whether this data is compatible with your SatNav version.

What does the manual say in relation to POi's in general ?

I was under the impression that he wants a working camera database and is not particularly fussed where they come from provided they work. It's getting any to load onto his device that's the problem.
If he wants the cameras from here, he has to be a paid up member.

That's the right impression. I'm interested in having a working camera database and not particularly fussed where it comes from as long as it works

I paid 7 Euros for a corrupt database (speedcamupdates) from a website before I discovered this website. I escalated this to Paypal as a case and waiting to get my money back. I'm saying the gpx files are corrupt because they cant be converted with POILoader.

Like I said, before I splash any more money to buy the camera database from this website, I want to make sure that the process works with free POIs such as estate agents and building societies for example.

I tried that yesterday and that failed.
I went to this link http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=POIs
and I chose Great Britain and Mercedes Comand from the dropdown.

I then downloaded the gpx file, unzipped it and put in a folder called PersonalPOI. The folder is in the root of my sd card.

No luck. I also tried combining the two gpx files using an app called Mercedes Benz POI Loader. The merge worked, but the loading inside the Nav was just stuck on loading data.

I haven't tried converting them to GPI and see if that worked. Could do that too to eliminate one more possibility it could work.

There are a handful of threads in here with people saying that they got it to work. I'd be very interested to see how mine differs? :/

Good luck with that.

Use the KISS priciple. Have you tried just a single file using the MB POILoader? The normal POILoader produces a .GPI file for Garmin devices.

That's the next thing to try I think.

But unfortunately were a bit vague about exactly what they did Rolling Eyes

Surely somewhere in documentation should be info whether the unit want's GPX or GPI on the card.

You seem to be flying blind, we are.

It doesn't mention gpx or gpi anywhere in the car manual.
