A driver has been accused of four separate speeding offences in one day on the Orwell Bridge and A12 in Suffolk.

26-year-old April Scott of Stowmarket is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on July 14.

She was allegedly caught twice on the bridge and on another two occasions on the A12. Her vehicle was ticketed by average speed cameras in both locations.

One of the alleged offences is that she travelled at 95mph on the Orwell Bridge in a 60mph limit. She was also accused of driving at 92mph on her return journey.

Unlikely. She'll become another of the statistics of people over the totting up limit who haven't been banned - bear in mind it was just a temporary, momentary, unintentional, inadvertent drifting over the limit, not as if she was deliberately driving too fast. And even if she was, the limit is wrong because it's perfectly safe to drive at 95mph, otherwise she wouldn't have done it would she?

So she'll get not guilty plus costs plus compensation.

Quite right. Instead of calling her a woman driver, use the description "RICH". A rich driver because she can afford a car expensive enough to do an average 95mph. Probably also rich enough to employ a clever legal representative for the magistrates court.

Because it's a widely accepted lousy practice, not least because it's a false form of reasoning and on the edge of bullying.

Agreed. You should know that you're speeding if you're driving at nearly twice the posted limit.

Doesn't this indicate that speed cameras don't work for a small percentage of drivers?

We need to get more police patrols on main roads and motorways. On a recent trip to and back from Cornwall (i.e. some 220 miles each way) I don't think I saw any marked police vehicles.

On the same journey to and from Cornwall, I saw several Highways England patrols on the motorways and all of those patrols drove at just under the speed limit with drivers inching by at 70 mph. So marked vehicles does have an impact on driving and by having police patrols on roads would hopefully allow them to respond to incidents and cases of bad driving (e.g. tailgating, using a phone whilst driving, and speeding, etc.).

Regards,

Surely the opposite in this case since at least a driver will be taken off the road, assuming of course they count as 4 separate offences and she gets a driving ban?
