I have an Alpine 970BT head unit in my car. Is there a way to download updated maps etc without going through the Naviextras software?

Not your unit, but I found THIS with a search. It might help. If not, have a quick search and come back if you don't find anything. |

Apparently I haven't got 'special access' to see that. I did see a post which related to Naviextras where you had replied (noticed you were localish to me) somewhere else on the forum. No-one seems to know anything about Alpine units and their Nav systems |

That topic is in the "Speed Camera Database Support" section.
I'm guessing you need a current subscription to the site to go there.
Cullers and/or dhn may or may not, I don't know. I'm just guessing. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
