And why don't new ones appear until the roadworks are over (except year long roadworks) and why do year long ones take a year after it's over to remove?

I'm afraid not. It may be because map corrections are going through a purple patch these days. Or those might be a separate problem (well, an issue, well a not issued issue, if you see what I mean). Rolling Eyes

I never said they were, look I've a free lifetime here, I'm not dissing your cameras.

At the moment I can't use them in TomTom, so I use TomTom's own, and you know what they are are damn sight better than they have ever been in the past. I'm not trying to sell them to people, I'm just saying they work for me.

Jeez, getting a little bit precious around here.

As a slight aside of the cameras but still relevant to the accuracy of TT, I tried giving them an update for an incorrect postcode after doing a White Van Man job for a couple of days last November and they "rejected" the MapShare correction.

The van, a Peugeot, had an installed TT system with mapping that was 2 years old. Having entered the company's postcode of CM6 1XJ (on the Flitch Ind. Estate in Dunmow), the nav took me to the B1256 (the blue arrow on the map indicates), which runs parallel to the delivery address but is separated by a high bank. As a result it made a bit of a run-around to get to the location as Chelmsford Road where the F.I.E. is, passes over the B1256.

[/URL]

Having submitted the correct location I decided to recheck the PostCode against my Android TT Go and the PostCode showed at a different location some 400m. away on Chelmsford Road.

The company I delivered to said that this is a problem that many drivers delivering to them experience and TT "rejected" the submission despite Royal Mail PostCode finder only listing premises on the F.I.E. for that PostCode and therefore whilst much of the TT system is no doubt correct, they clearly don't check as they could do on something so simple in order to verify and make a driver's life that bit easier.

Apologies if I wound you up, but we frequently criticise the TT camera offering here, not the users thereof. But your statement

is accurate insofar as, yes they do, but it's the length of time that they take to do this that's the criticism. They frequently take months or longer, so 'up to date' is not actually a factual statement in the general acceptance of the term. But I suppose that depends on one's interpretation of 'up to date'. Cheers!

No problem.

I agree they do linger, but the new TomTom Go product only takes a single press to dismiss the cameras as you drive through say a set of SPECS that are no longer there.

Until I can use your camera's in TomTom Go its the best I can do I'm afraid. I've tried running Camera Alert in the background but it's just not the same.

It's a few years since I used TomTom on an Android. Are you able to load the PGPSW cameras (.OV2 and .BMP) files onto your phone so that they show on the map and then use CamerAlert in the background? Or won't the icons (of the cameras) appear on the screen whilst navigating?

Regards,

As far as I'm aware, you can add poi but not an associated .bmp, the result being that you could search for a camera as a poi and navigate to the location, but not much else. If you do manage to have them all display on screen, they would just appear as a generic TomTom icon.

Well, I've been using a GO6100 since beginning of November and I have yet to have it ask me if a camera is still there. Rolling Eyes

If you using TT Go on an Android why are people complaining they can't use PocketGPSWorld Speed Cameras.

Granted you can't use inside the app, but if you install the free CamerAlert App you get all the warnings, etc

So I can't honestly see the problem

I run CA in the background and TT Go in foreground - you can also switch so CA in foreground and TT Go in background

I am not very happy with Tomtom at the minute because although not their fault cannot use andoid tomtom on my new Galaxy S6 edge because of resolution problems and not being able to see the map and as the phone is only used in an emergency when lost, tomtom do not have a solution but suggest putting latest softare on phone and as I am not prepared to buy the latest software from playstore which might work because i have a normal satnav used on long journeys. So having bought tomtom for my old phone and thinking when I upgraded my phone thought it would was compatible only to find out it was not.
I have scoured the internet looking for a solution and there is a consenses that even the lates tomtom from playstore might not be compatable with phones that have a higher resolution for maps provided with the software. so before getting latest tomtom from playstore make sure that its going to work because if it does not work dealing with tomtom customer services and support is going to be difficult going by my past experience with them.

Hi
I have been using tomtom go on the galaxy s6 edge at the following screen resolution 1440 x 2560 with no problems since the launch.
The current version 1.9 release /1.9 (1273) has been the best yet.
Downloaded from the play store
