The problem with modern cars, even mine with a high level 'clear as day' digital speedo, is that they are just so quiet and comfy, that I often find myself creeping over 30mph. 20mph zones are a nightmare.

Having a verbal warning on approaching a camera does make me check my speed.

I'm OK on motorways because I'm quite happy at 60mph, inside lane, pacing a truck.

Speed limiters sound dangerous to me. On rare occasions you need some welly to avoid idiots. A limiter would put that ploy to bed.

You mash the pedal to the floor where there is a micro switch which disengages the limiter and the car accelerates away.

Like I said, it takes a bit of getting used to.

PS: I've never had a speeding ticket in over 40 years of driving, not even in North Wales!

Now I feel like a hardened criminal. One jumping the lights and one speeding (38 in a 30) since about the late 50s

Exactly my sentiment "Kremman" and I use my cruise control on the Motorway especially when there are roadworks, when it's all clear I set it to 80. (Oops! did I say that out loud?) Shocked

Still plenty of time for you BigJohnD Wink

Indeed, my first cars had built-in speed limiters, the power of the engine and the noise! If you drove too fast you couldn't hear the radio - they had valves in those days

Hi Guys, I have had another tinker with the SatNav and it now appears to work well, I can hear the "Bong" from the boot of my car when I tickle over the speed limit and it switches on automatically when I turn on the ignition. Thanks to all who gave useful information. Wink
