Yesterday drove down m1 to j31 (turnoff to workshop) Togo to A1 via a57. I had just left the average 50mph speed zone, yet the app kept alerting me I was going over 50mph until hit the 70mph average speed zone, before it finally stopped reporting I was going over 50mph.

I run the app in the background and only use to alert for cameras, so this was extremely annoying even though had gone through other speed zone areas.

Could the app be configured to allow user to click on the alert and in doing so disables this particular alert for the duration of journey.

When the screen is displaying the 2 speeds, tapping the 'average' one will turn it off.

This is symptomatic of the last camera not being flagged as an end cam.

Looking at the submission map, the last active 50MPH cam on the M1 southbound just before J32 is SPECS:176342@50 (Temp). It does not appear to be flagged as an end cam. Although there is another pending specs southbound just after J32, pSPECS:177983@unknown

Yeh the last camera is an end just around j32 just as coming to j31, but even if it wasn't, coming out of the speed restriction zone should stop the notification.
We also noticed that sometimes it would just flash the speed with nonaudio and other times will say audio. But there was no sequence on how this was fone.

But if it's not marked as an end cam, how do you reckon the prog would know it's out of the specs zone?

There must be something to say as I've come of the m1 onto the a57 onto the a1.

So surely it should know I have left the zone, how does it work when in a zone and you exit of any junction? Will this be the same problem?

Like I said, how would the program know where the section stops, guess work? ;=) How would it know for definite that it has left the controlled zone unless it is told it has?

Specs cameras in the database are 'flagged' with Start, Mid and End flags. The CA software detects the 'End' cam ad thus stops the calculation. If the last cam is not flagged as an End cam, the calculation just carries on, as you have found.

The flagging is done by the database administrator (MaFt), but he needs to be told buy 'the crowd' which one is which. So if you know for sure, which is the end cam in any section, then report it as such and he will no doubt update the database, especially, as in this case, the section has no end cam flagged.

Further to this, if a section can be left mid way through, he often puts dummy end cams in the database so that the calculation stops when you leave the section. Again, sometimes he need a little prompting to add these dummys.

Thanks, so there should have been either a dummy for exiting the motorway or the end speedcam.

Correct. The one I mentioned above should have been flagged as the end cam. But as there are some pending ones further south, I guess that the zone has been extended past the junction.
The dummies are usually on the exit roundabout or slip to a M/Way, when the zone continues on past that exit. They show on the submission map, but I don't think they show on CA.
There is one at 53.39962, -1.35014. There should also be one on thye exit slip to the A630. It's difficult to keep up with temporary specs zones. But PGPSW are a lot better at it than TT.

We mark exit zones for CamerAlert (although they don't show on the map).

However, this location doesn't need one as the END SPECS should already have been passed.

My only thought is that the app froze in the background as you passed the END camera...

If this is a regular route can you keep an eye on it and see if it happens again?

@ MaFt
Have you recently marked/added SPECS:177983@50 as an end cam, as when I was looking before, the last active one that I could see was SPECS:176342@50 which is not marked as an end cam (other than some pending ones around the area of 177983.)

Specs SPECS:176344@50 westbound is a middle cam, and there is no dummy end cam on the exit onto the A630 SW bound which is after 176344 but there is one on the exit to the A630 northbound. That's the one I was banging on about,

Probably not going to be that far down for a few weeks

It entertained us while we travelling as we kept asking it questions which always resulted in it saying 50....

While thinking about it, on another thread queried about the initial camera warning and can it repeat itself prior to camera instead of just the single notice

It will remind you if your average exceed the posted speed limit (or that which CA thinks is the limit), as you have found. Very Happy Why do you need an advance warning?
