To All - A Happy New Year.

Long time user of Road Angel Professional Connected and before that the Origin Blue etc.

I am evaluating the CamerAlert software product as a replacement for my aging Road Angel Professional Connected, which despite still having a couple of years database updates is suffering from me changing the battery (I think I modified the speaker in a bad way). As I also have a new car - its time to re-evaluate the mechanism for avoiding cameras. I have not yet subscribed - but will do once the initial testing is out of the way.

So far - it all looks promising. Cameras are spotted, and the phone, through Bluetooth, interrupts the playing music, very loudly initially (to the point that I was wincing) however that has I think been dealt with.

What I am getting, however, is garbled voice warnings. I think what is happening is the the phone is transmitting the "Gatso. Speed 30" type warning but all I actually hear is the last part of Gatso (I think) followed by Speed 30. I suspect that the Head Unit is taking a second (or less) to switch over and is losing the first part of the warning.

Has anyone else found this?

Nope

I use a Garmin 2599 which works perfectly with the camera database and gives me the superior digital traffic.

My Honda headunit only has RDS traffic which is pathetic in comparison.

No, nor I, I'm afraid. I use CA on my android phone and it throws the alerts out of the phone's own speakers.
I used to sync it to the car radio but I didn't like it interrupting the music. But it worked as intended.

ETA, a wee bit more info.

Are you using the CamerALert app for iOS or Android or is this on a standalone SatNav?

If it's the app then go to the advanced settings and choose a sound for the 'Pre-warning' - then if it's simply a delay in your bluetooth set-up it will trim the pre-warning (eg a siren sound) rather than the 'fixed speed camera' etc.

I'm on CamerAlert with iPhone.

Warnings come Bluetooth through my built in satnav/media system and I use the pre-warning as suggested by MaFt. My built in system has several volume settings and the one affecting this is the handsfree volume, as opposed to the radio volume.

I started using the pre-warning idea a long time ago before I had a built in system and was using various bluetooth headsets and speakers which lost the startup of the warnings - instead of pre-warning DingDong, I got Dong, which was sufficient (to power up the following spoken warnings).
