Try an app called "AutomateIt". I use it to divert my phone to the house phone when I get within 200 yards (and undivert when I leave home). It is very flexible and may do what you need.

I use something similar called Automagic.

I have CamerAlert configured to start/stop by detecting Car Mode. Car Mode has horrible side effects on my phone so I have Automagic do this:

- Launch CamerAlert explicitly when it detects I'm in my car (I use a NFC tag on the car mount)

- Engage and then exit Car Mode (after a few seconds) when I leave the car. This causes CamerAlert to exit as it's configured to respond to Car Mode

It's a horribly clunky work-around but it works, and I've found no alternative. This isn't a bug in CamerAlert - it's a new feature request (to support an Android intent to exit CamerAlert). CamerAlert hasn't been updated in ages and I suspect is in a 'bug fixes only' development phase. :-(

I'd also find this helpful.

I have a NFC tag stuck on my dashboard which I use with Llama to set up the phone for the car (high volume, switch off wifi, etc). This also starts Here Navigation (or occasionally Waze) and CamerAlert.

However, at the end of the journey, I have to manually shut CamerAlert down, so an intent that would allow me to use Llama when I'm exiting the car would be great).

The app, from what I recall, will respond to 'car mode' and 'car dock mode' so you could perhaps use that in your NFC set up?

From what I've seen car mode et al can be used to start CA but not shut it down - I use Trigger to start CA on connection to the car Bluetooth, but there isn't any way to automate the shut-down process Confused

There isn't currently one but it would be relatively easy to add one. I will ask MaFt to add it to the list.

Was there any result from this? Will there actually be another version of CamerAlert?

This was in the latest newsletter -

"We are, at long last, preparing the Android update for submission to Google. This update will resolve the lack of a MENU button or soft key on newer Android handsets. In the meantime anyone who wants access can request the link to the beta .apk via our support desk."

What changes are there apart from the menu button?

Was there any progress on this request? I'm struggling to reliably shut it down using Tasker.

I'm not aware of any changes to CamerAlert to allow this, sadly.

However, I use AutoMagic (which is similar to Tasker, but with a nicer User Interface and better native functionality), and I use two flows to end CameraAlert when I disconnect from the Bluetooth in my cars:

1) Kill App with com.pocketgpsworld.cameralert as a parameter

2) Execute Root Command with am force-stop com.pocketgpsworld.cameralert as a parameter

Hi,

I'm just trying to get an old phone to turn on when it gets power, run cameralert, then when power is shut off, turn off cameralert, then go into sleep mode or turn off the screen.

I don't suppose you can share your flow with us can you?

Cheers, Shane

I know this is an old thread but I just setup Llama to turn on Car Mode when on charge and when leaving Home and then set CamerAlert to launch when the phone is in Car Mode and terminate when it exits. (See advanced settings in CA).
Also set Llama to turn off Car Mode when not charging so CA will terminate.
Works a treat on my Galaxy Note.
