Worked fine on my trip to the South coast. Really good spot that the banner text can be anything.

I'm going to implement the upper and lower case suffix bit once back off hols then you can test if out.

The change to the banner message works -but- it has a side effect that you need to turn off, set to zero, the overspeed section on the main screen.

Because the say @50 is no longer in the camera ID the Garmin will produce a warning. Because the approach and overspeed are 2 separate lines it produces 2 separate warnings.

Garmin uses the @50 in the camera ID field and compares it to your speed. It seems that if you are under the speed limit and not accelerating it will not trigger a second warning.

I will put the warning on the new textbox.

Latest version 2015.09.23.0700

Still in beta but works OK for me.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kpnpbwlk6k2e78/CSV%20to%20GPX%20Installer.zip?dl=0

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Apologies to Dales but the multi direction scenario is a tad complicated at the moment and would involve an almost rewrite as the existing code is centred around the 5 main camera groups.

The source code is available to anyone who wants a dabble, no secrets Smile

I've downloaded it and run it and am now having a problem with PoiLoader in that it complains about more than 32 categories. I've tried running Poiloader on my other POI folders with no problem just in case it was that.

The structure is J:\Garmin POI\CSV Convertor Data\speed files.*

I am pointing Poiloader at CSV Convertor Data as the data directory and it causes an error. I tried moving it directly to j:\CSV Convertor Data and still have the same problem. It is falling over when it hits Specs_var.

Any ideas please? My initial thoughts was that it was POIloader but given it works with no problems on historical data, I don't think it is.

Update: I've tried using an alternative to yours and it works without any problem with the same directory structure.

Many thanks,

Allan

Latest version:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kpnpbwlk6k2e78/CSV%20to%20GPX%20Installer.zip?dl=0

A few bug fixes and a new facility to separate RedSpeed cameras into their own category with new BMP and WAV file.

I've included an updated helpfile in the package.

This is still in beta but I would appreciate any feedback.

Very Happy

I've done some testing before release but there is always a combination I may have missed.

The RedSpeed enhancement seems to work OK.

Hi, Most of the questions below are probably a function of my config settings on Kremmen's app, however:

.gpx info being used on a Garmin 2599.

1) The stock garmin speedcam alerts appear in a red banner with white text at the top of the screen. The converter alerts appear in pale grey with white text. Whilst "making progress", it's hard to notice the alerts compared to the OEM alerts. Although the converter offers an option to specify the text, can the *format* be specified?

2) Is there a way of doing the following:
I) having *only* the speed alerts audible, i.e. no direction info, etc?
ii) increasing the sound of the speed alerts, as even with the volume settings on full, these aren't overly loud. Is an MP3/.wav file able to be stored at different levels, or is solely a function of any onboard DAC?

3) Is the only alert option on the screen via the banner format at the top of the screen? Is it possible to utilise the "pop up" side screen a la the motorway exit lane display?

Whilst going through a twisty village in North Bucks late on Friday evening, I think I went through a forward facing gatso at about 40mph, as I simply didn't notice the converter alert. If this truns into a NIP, I hope a SAC is available as an option!!

After that I re-enabled the garmin alerts to run alongside the converter alerts to ensure I got the "red" banner alerts.

Hopefully most of the above can be addressed in the converter config?

It's a great app by the way!

As an aside, how often is the Garmin speed cam database updated? Would any revisions be downloaded to the unit if I plug it in to the USB and "check for updates", or would this solely be for O/S software updates?

Cheers

1) I suspect this is coded into the Garmin to give more prominence to their own Cyclops product. Same as Cyclops does directional but POIloader doesn't. With regards to notification, I find the louder WAV file far more noticeable than the quieter Cyclops 'bong'. I rarely look at the unit as it tells me what type of camera and what speed. It's all personal preference.

2) Not sure what you mean. My audible alerts don't have any directional info. You can only increase the volume by using the Garmin volume. All the WAV files in my package are 'normalised' in Adobe Audition to be 100% so any increase will likely cause distortion.

3) Not an option in the Garmin GPX schema file.

4) Have you got the location of the camera so we can check it's in the database.

The basic idea of the converter was to overcome some Garmin niggles and shortcomings:

Customise the approach time (Garmin via CSV is 36 seconds)
Reduce the number of duplicate warnings.
Always produce a warning (Garmin don't think you need to know if you are under the limit and not accelerating).

Minor data files update.

This zip file contains an updated set of RedSpeed camera WAV sound files that now say "RedSpeed".

Also note that the last 2 zip files have an updated .htm help file. Once extracted read this first.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

If I recall correctly, there is a choice between using .wav or MP3 sound files?

Regarding the audible alerts, currently, the unit either gives me direction info (i.e. "at the next junction turn left") plus bongs/chimes, etc or nothing at all. How would I differentiate between these two to only leave sound for alerts and no voice directions?

The camera was near Woburn, but due to having 3 kids arguing in the back, combined with it being dark and a twisty road, I really can't recall exactly where it was!!! I think it was on the way into Woburn going North...

Ah, got you on the sounds.

That is one of my bugbears as well. I'd love to be able to just have visual navigation with no voice directions but retain the camera warnings.

I did try the silent TTS sound file suggestion but that caused all manner of issues. That's another reason I use my built in Nav for navigation.

What I have noticed that makes a big difference to spotting upcoming cameras is to switch to the 44x44 icon set, included in my zip file pack.

As far as WAV or MP3 is concerned the newer units don't allow MP3. The rule of thumb was, if your unit allows MP3 music files, as was an option on earlier units then it can use MP3 alert files. If your unit doesn't have a dedicated music player then it's WAV only.

Well, been running this for a few weeks now and it's bloody marvellous.
Can't use sound in the Merc so that's a non issue for me I just don't have any sound files in the folder, but updating used to take me hours as I had to edit each file to remove all numbers.
Kremnens awesome software now does this for me so I can update in minutes.

The limitations of the Merc system are still there, but this is nothing to do with Kremnen obviously, I'm hoping there will be a software update early in the new year. At present I still have no icons and only a 85% hit rate of cameras. This is solely down to Merc, not Kremnens software or the database.

Very happy with the converter mate, thank you :-)
