I've started the design stage.

The Main screen will have a menu link:

Which will launch a free format screen with text boxes:

All you will need to put in is the pre-text as I will interrogate the file and decide on the speed text. I will therefore convert say the current @50 to FIFTY MPH.

I haven't investigated when to do this but if there is any text in any of the appropriate boxes then it will get converted so if you want it as now just leave the boxes empty.

At the moment I've set a limit of 20 characters but I think that may be too much once the auto text is added in. I can leave it at 20 and wait for feedback or you can suggest a lower figure.

I've also set UPPER case only so you don't need to worry about caps lock or shift.

I've done a test run using just the Gatso50 file. Below is a small sample of the GPX output.

I've cut out the Lat/Long for obvious reasons but the below should look close to what you're after?

I think I've got it cracked and the rest is mainly a copy/paste exercise across all the categories with some more thought for the oddities.

I should have my version working later today - after a fashion.

Then I'll test it on the 2597 and see how it takes to melt it Laughing

Well you've certainly opened up some possibilities as it works on Garmins:

Before:

After:

I'm going to tweak it slightly to include the directional compass info.

That's better:

It's getting a bit tight for space now, some are going to have to be shortened.

Looks great. Polite suggestion, to gain more space would you consider trying upper and lower case instead of all upper?

I think I'm realising after brief testing that that is a good idea.

I'll take off the forced caps so you can do it as required between the - -

At the moment though this is what is in test for the next week:

I could change MPH to Mph subject to feedback

Do you actually need the MPH at all? Just Fifty or 50 for non Merc types

I'll have a look at that. I can set a ticky box to change from Fifty/FIFTY to 50.

All good stuff keep it coming.

I'm away from the PC now till the 21st so loads of time for ideas. Glad I got it started though.

That is quite simply, insanely good mate!
WOW.

The difference in the Merc would be A: no icon :-( and B: the banner is always red. But I quite like that TBH.

Awesome mate. And I am going to get some beer tokens to you one way or the other, so you might as well just send me your PayPal details now and have done with it.... ;-)

I'll see how the above behaves next week on hols. If OK I'll incorporate an easy change for the suffix bit.

Hopefully the options will be:

50 Mph
FIFTY MPH
?

or whatever speed.

Do you need the word 'AHEAD'? Surely they don't alert if they are behind you Very Happy

No not really, it's just personal preference I suppose.
Because I had to edit them, I just sorta got in the habit of having that as the alert.

That's why I decided to use a user defined middle section warning.

At the moment the format is:

direction-(whatever you want)-speed mph

Using the GPS simulator it worked fine on the Garmin 2597. If it's OK this week on my 2599 then I will fine tune it and push a beta version out when I get back.
