I note the comments by M8TJT that political ends take no notice of facts, and JC50's all motorised vehicles to be preceded by a man with a red flag. I appreciate that it's slightly off topic, but please don't wish too heartily for it to happen. It surely won't be to long before some vote seeking ambitious politician reads this, picks up on the idea and proposes the red flag re-introduction on the grounds that, at a stroke, 1) it will create jobs and reduce unemployment.(one red flag carrier for every vehicle on the road. We might even have to encourage immigration to make up the shortfall.) 2) It will cut down, or even eliminate speed related accidents.(pretty much everyone would survive a 4 or 5 mph collision). 3) It will cut down the rate of obesity and improve the fitness of the previously unemployed, who will now become earners and taxpayers, much to the pleasure of the treasury, and become less of a burden on the NHS. 4) It will allow the education system to no doubt offer degrees in "red flag controlled traffic management", or similar. No doubt other readers can offer what other advantages would flow from such legislation? (I must say that my tongue really is in my cheek as I write this, but knowing how low some politicians will go in ignoring facts to get votes, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone actually proposed what is essentially this madness).

Ive found the slower I go the higher the chances of a car pulling out on me, and higher chance of a pedestrian walking into the road to cross... no traffic behind me of course... just ignoring the fact Im actually there... its just a case of they cannot be arsed to wait...

Obviously you are not going fast enough - whip your red flag man more. Recent statistics prove that the more you whip your red flag man, the thinner he gets. The big problem though, is that with all these zero hours workers (lazy beggars, why can't they work for at least SOME hours?) you can't be sure of getting the same one each time - might end up flogging a dead horse.
