Map dissapears

I have galaxy ace 3 and downloaded the app. When I start in the car from home I have the map, triangle and speed readings all ok.
When I am about half mile from home the map starts to dissapear off the screen but the blue triangle seems to stay on route and speed reading still function ok.
I have tried all map / satellite versions but the result is the same.
However when I come back home the map reappears as I get near.
Any ideas

Sound to me a bit like you are loosing your internet connection in the 'blank zone'. Is this a possibility?

Ah could be, signal here is weak. I am on EE 4G. I am going into Nottingham later and will see if it all comes back and will let you know
